Who wants to play nursery rhyme segue?

Thistledew · 19/05/2021 20:00

I amuse myself when singing nursery rhymes to DD by making one nursery rhyme segue to the next by some sort of theme. So for instance, I might start with London Bridge is Falling Down, then go:

London's Burning (London connection)
Jack and Jill (water)
Miss Polly had a Dolly (medical treatment)
Polly put the kettle on (Polly)
I'm a little tea pot (tea)

And on the basis that I find 'I'm a little tea pot' to be a tough one to follow on from, who wants to play? Just add the song that you would go to from the previous poster's suggestion.

There was a crooked man
Who walked a crooked mile
He found a crooked sixpence
Upon a crooked stile
He saw a crooked cat
Who caught a crooked mouse
And they all lived together
In a little crooked house.

Dame Trot and her cat
Led a peaceable life
When they were not troubled
With other folks' strife.

When Dame had her dinner
Puss near her would wait,
And was sure to receive
A nice piece from her plate

Ding dong bell
Puss is in the well
Who put her in?
Little Tommy Flynn
Who pulled her out?
Little Tommy Stout
What a naughty boy was that
To drown poor pussy cat.

Little miss Muffet she sat on her tuffet, eating her curds eating and whey
Along came a spider who sat down beside her
And frightened miss Muffet away

Polly, put the kettle on
Polly, put the kettle on
Polly, put the kettle on
We'll all have tea
Sukey, take it off again
Sukey, take it off again
Sukey, take it off again
They've all gone away

I'm a little tea pot
Short and stout
Here's my handle
Here's my spout
When the time is over
Here me shout
Tip me up
And pour me out.

As I went up the apple tree
All the apples fell on me.
Bake a pudding,
Bake a pie.
Did you ever tell a lie?
Yes you did!
You know you did!
You broke your mother's teapot lid.
L I D.... That spells lid.
Out you must go!

Pease pudding hot
Pease pudding cold
Pease pudding in the pot
Nine days old
Some like it hot
Some like it cold
Some like it in the pot
Nine days old.

The wheels on the bus go round and round
Round and round
Round and round
The wheels on the bus go round and round
All day long.

Round and round the garden
Like a teddy bear
One step, two step
Tickly under there.

Here we go round the mulberry bush,
The mulberry bush, the mulberry bush.
Here we go round the mulberry bush,
On a cold and frosty morning.

It's raining
It's pouring
The old man is snoring
He went to bed
And bumped his head
And couldn't get up in the morning
Rain, rain
Go away
Come again
Another day.

Elsie Marley's grown so fine
She won't get up to feed the swine
But lays in bed 'til 8 or 9.
Lazy Elsie Marley!

MrsMackesy · 07/07/2021 17:05

Curly locks, curly locks
Won't you be mine?
You'll not wash the dishes
Nor yet feed the swine
But sit upon cushions
And sew a fine scene
And feast upon strawberries
Sugar and cream.

There was a little girl
Who had a little curl
Right in the middle of her forehead.
When she was good,
She was very very good
But when she was bad
She was horrid.

One, two, three, four, five
Once I caught a fish alive.
Six, seven, eight, nine, ten
Then I let it go again.

Why did you let it go?
'Cause it bit my finger so.
Which finger did it bite?
This little finger
On my right

In Dublin's fair city
Where the girls are so pretty
I first set my eyes on sweet Molly Malone
As she wheeled her wheel-barrow
Through streets broad and narrow
Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh!"
Alive, alive, oh
Alive, alive, oh
Crying "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh"

MrsMackesy · 10/07/2021 13:57

How many miles to Dublin?
Three score and ten
Will we be there by candlelight?
Yes and home again
Hupp, hupp my little horse
Hupp, hupp again

JPduck · 10/07/2021 19:38

Horsey horsey don't you stop
^Just let your feet go clippety-clop
Your tail goes swish and the wheels go round
Giddy up, we're homeward bound.^

Sally go round the sun,
Sally go round the moon
Sally go round the chimney pots
On a Saturday afternoon.

Hey diddle diddle
The cat and the fiddle
The cow jumped over the mooooon
The little dog laughed
To see such fun
And the dish ran away with the spoon.

Jack be nimble.
Jack be quick
Jack jumped over the candlestick.

AnneOfCleavage · 16/07/2021 18:19

Rub-a-dub-dub,
Three men in a tub,
And who do you think they were?
The butcher, the baker,
The candlestick maker,
They all sailed out to sea,
‘Twas enough to make a man stare.

MrsMackesy · 17/07/2021 09:37

One man went to mow
Went to mow a meadow
One man and his dog
Went to mow a meadow

Two men went to mow...

A sailor went to sea sea sea
To see what he could see see see
And all that he could see see see
Was the bottom of the deep blue
Sea sea sea
