Advice on skip theft please

Ifixfastjets · 16/05/2021 12:38

Not theft from my skip, as stuff in the skip is for getting rid of...

But theft of my skip space.
More specifically, my neighbour dumping his crap in my skip.
Not small, odd things like a bag of grass cuttings, but a tv, a mower and a mattress.

Had no proof for the first two items, only suspicions as you wouldn't carry a tv very far.

But we came home from work the other night and saw the mattress on their drive.
Next morning, the same blue and white striped mattress is in my skip.
Drives are separated by a tall hedge. No way a mattress could "fall in"

I reported it to police online (not as emergency)
But police say it's a civil matter.

Who can i report it to now?

I am a single mum. Bloke next door is a bit of an arse.

Go round with the invoice for the skip hire and ask how he would like to pay his half, cash or bank transfer?, If he complains ask him to remove his rubbish as you are not a 'skip for all' charity.

When is the skip being collected? As soon as it’s going on the truck to leave, get your DS and his friends to put the neighbour’s stuff back exactly where you saw the mattress and just pretend the whole thing never happened!
I love this! Do it.

What a cf your neighbour is. He could have at least asked if there was space, but clearly feels entitled to just put stuff in. We had a skip, just for hardcore, and as we hadn't filled it we asked our neighbours if they had any they wanted rid of.

Check the details of your skip hire.
Electrical goods and mattresses have different recycling require shed and will either be excluded from your agreement or incur extra charges.
You can then go back to the neighbour on the basis that those items can’t go into it

Requirements not ‘require shed’

This!!!

Something similar happened to my parents years ago, but my dad’s a grumpy bastard and he just told them to remove the stuff or he’d bring it back round and dump it in their front garden. The offenders at least had the grace to be embarrassed.
