The first ones that stand out for me were one which was a huge bun fight about piercing babies ears.

The other one was by an obviously depressed mum whose house was a tip and the social worker was coming to visit soon (there was no sympathy to be had)

I miss the regular parking threads with neighbours. There’s just not enough of them at the moment!! Lol.

Buggies on buses.

Parent and child parking spaces.

The first one I remember commenting on was about Gollies. I got my arse handed to me on a plate and nearly didn't come back. Then I thought about it. Read a bit more. Realised I was wrong. 13ish years (and many many name changes) later, here I am.

Bluefinger · 14/05/2021 21:09

I didn't get the whole penguin bollard??? thing either

God buggies on buses, yes I remember that, don't quite remember why it controversial

UhtredRagnarson · 14/05/2021 21:13

I can’t remember which was first but they were both one of the first I read on MN. One was a thread about “day orphanages” with loads of nasty smuggery from some woman criticising women for having children and letting others (nursery!) raise them. Probably a troll. The other was a thread by TLES with some nonsense that I can’t quite recall. She’d put up photos of her child for some reason. Her threads always ended up in a bun fight.

Either penis beaker or Brian? The yoni masseuse

Chunkymenrock · 14/05/2021 21:15

About backpack handbags! Loved it and bought myself one.

It pops up every now and then. I've missed them over the last couple of years years Brexit/Covid took over Grin

I read a few linked threads by a poster who was a teacher. She didn't want her family to move nearer to her and her husband. Over a few threads she realised she had been seriously abused by her father and found the courage to report him.

This was about 12 years ago. I know this sort of poster would be reported as a troll these days but it felt very different then

BrownEyedGirl80 · 14/05/2021 21:17

The sistine Chapel.I read it "live"

LunaNorth · 14/05/2021 21:17

I was here for the Gina Ford debacle.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 14/05/2021 21:19

I read some of the carefully worded fall-out from when Gina Ford threatened to sue Mumsnet. About 2006 I think.

Gloomandglow · 14/05/2021 21:19

Poster's MIL knitting baby clothes in cheap acrylic rather than naice wool.

Shouldbedoing · 14/05/2021 21:21

I remember laughing till the tears ran over a poster who knocked a tooth out bending behind the sofa to retrieve something just as her kid shoved the sofa. Her husband said that the dental bill would be far too expensive. A mumsnetter commented "Does he want a wife who looks like an audience member from The Jeremy Kyle Show?"
She had such a way with words as so many posters do. I was only after weaning tips. That DC is nearly 15 now

Bluefinger · 14/05/2021 21:21

Oh yeah yoni massage was funny as fuck Grin

What happened to wilf and his mam who used to post lots, or the lady who had a performing arts daughter who she used to post pics of.

It's all so grim now argue argue argue. There was the woman who always posted about her "manshape" the tigger woman who always signed off. The Internet of old was a glorious thing.

LEMtheoriginal · 14/05/2021 21:21

Not a specific thread but many vitriolic threads of wohm vs sahm. Xenia and her return to work when her kids were 2 hours old and her own personal island.

A troll thread about a husband with a kitchen utensil fetish and a woman called Sharon and a dead wasp.

lljkk · 14/05/2021 21:22

Gina Ford, only OP wouldn't even say it was a GF thread, the title would be

"Is it ok if I give last bottle 10 minutes after bathtime finishes, or is it too soon?" with elaborate explanations why couldn't make it sooner than 10 minutes after bath.

Because Gina said should be 5 minutes later & poster just assumed everyone knew that & would understand the painful dilemma.

Surreal.

Bluefinger · 14/05/2021 21:22

TrinityRhino and people helping her sort her house.

GarlicThread · 14/05/2021 21:28

The first one I remember about 10 years ago was 'AIBU to harmonise at a mother and baby group'. The replies were all "yes" which the OP took well, even the person who said she'd look like a wanker Grin
