How many have you got?

I've just been sorting umbrellas out in our house. They weren't all in the same place, so until now I hadn't realised how many we actually had. There are only two of us, with one pair of hands each... I'll update later with the actual number if I'm not too embarassed . But it occurrs to me that part of the clutter problem here, is not just having irrelevant stuff/rubbish, but having useful stuff, but just too much of it. Anyone relate?

I have two good size in the boot, would imagine a small one in the house somewhere but no idea - gone on op tell how many!!!

@OhRene

4

One I bought in an emergency and it has pictures of cats on and says something stupid like "It's raining cats". I won't use that.

My old trusty purple one but the handle comes apart sometimes. I should bin it.

A red one which is too flimsy and can't hold up to the slightest breeze.

And my favourite, my latest (and far too expensive for a mere umbrella!) a Resident Evil Umbrella Corporation one. My Umbrella Umbrella. I wish more people "got it" though.

Years ago I went for a job interview and prepared the big case-study presentation based on Umbrella Corp. Nobody got the reference Hmm

Three. One that came with the car, with the logo. Another large one. And a small one that DH was bemused to be given as promotional material at a work conference. Got a random software logo on.

I’m so pleased to see so many umbrella-haters here. My dh always says I’m an oddity for not liking them, and the rest of the population uses them.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 11/05/2021 21:04

I don't like them either , we have one in the porch I bought for DD
Good quality , black , folds up tiny .
I did consider buying her a leopard print but she'd have left that on the bus , the swine .

Luckily I don't have hair that frizzes and I like a hood

Mehoooole · 11/05/2021 21:11

One umbrella
Enough tupperware for a small village but still need a few minutes to rummage for a lid every time I need a box.

OhRene · 11/05/2021 22:08

@user143677433 did you get the job? If not, they weren't worthy of your time. Grin

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 12/05/2021 11:01

Oh no! We (had) nine....they've had an edit now. They included the large clear one which is like a bell shape, and doesn't seem to catch the wind so much, and actually shelters you quite well, and a Cath Kidson one, that looks beautiful, but is so small and flimsy it's a case of style over substance. @OhRene. I'm not getting the Evil Umbrella Corporation either. I am vair curios now. I'm not very awake today. Can you give another clue (or a pm please) I actually can't remember the last time I used an umbrella. The clear one was bought to watch then younger DD have riding lessons. It would have been great for that, but it spooked the horses.

It's from the popular Video games, Resident Evil. It's the logo of the Evil corporation that releases the zombie virus.

VictoriaLudorum · 12/05/2021 17:50

I have 3.
A small one in my bag.
2 larger ones in the boot of my car.

itbemay1 · 12/05/2021 17:57

Loads of London hotel ones that my DD gets given when working and it's raining!

Champagneforeveryone · 12/05/2021 18:01

We have none. I often thought of buying one to mark my ascent into adulthood but have somehow never got around to it.

I coveted a Hunter one for a while but it was over £30 so I remain umbrellaless Wink

MikeWozniaksGloriousTache · 12/05/2021 18:04

3 but I hate most of them. I only used them on the way to / from work (on and off the bus) but wfh now. Shopping they’re annoying and just poke people in the eye, dog walking or other outdoor pursuits I just wear appropriate clothing.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 12/05/2021 18:26

Interesting. Thanks @OhRene :)

I don’t have any because I live by the sea and it’s always too windy for umbrellas.

DH has a collection of free motorsports related golf sized umbrellas that he’s been given when he doesn’t have one and end up in the garage.

Melitza · 12/05/2021 18:38
  1. Dm left 2 if them though.
My favourite is a large red heart shaped brolly.
HannaHat · 12/05/2021 18:39

1, and it’s sometimes a struggle to find that. We live in the grim NW, rain capital of England ☔️
