Plasticraft - anyone remember it? Can you still buy similar?

It was a children's craft kit, from around the 1970s

It was plastic/resin kit - you could put eg flowers in clear plastic, then give a background (blue or yellow, don't remember any other colours) and then you had a lovely object, which you could turn into a pendant or stick on to a ring.

Can you still buy it?

Resin kits I've found are much bigger and more elaborate. Is there such a thing as a little one just for an afternoon's nostalgic messing around?

Or if anyone does this stuff seriously, any recommendations inexpensive entry-level versions?

I loved my plasticraft. Large lumps of indestructible stuff! Wasn't it banned for toxicity? I have looked at resin kits but seem a bit technical

Yes, the ones I found looked a bit too complex, and you have to buy the plastic/resin separately, and it's not clear if you need to buy colours separately too.

Was it really banned for toxicity? Shock Was it some early kind of glue-sniffing, or did infants get hold of it and eat it?

I had a kit in the 70s, loved putting dried flowers etc into pendants. But I do recall the overpowering fumes that went alongside this, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was banned!

Damn! The chances of making this happen seems to be ebbing

I remember putting daisies against the yellow background, and a dandelion against blue.

I remember the smell!
I still have a new decimal penny in a blue backed lozenge.

DD got some resin kit from Amazon. It was all a bit messy & she only made two things. They are nice though, the resin is clearer than I remembered.

I know, I know. Zombie and all that.
But I found this thread because I was googling Plasticraft.

We have a workman in doing something at the moment and a product he is using smells just like I remember Plasticraft smelling when I used it in 1970s.

I mentioned it to DH who had heard of it but never had one and we assumed it was the sort of thing you wouldn't be allowed to give small children these days. Hence the googling.

I think I did a new penny in some cuff links. I also had a little shell and a piece of fern against a yellow background

We did pennies in cuff links! And green twist of foil on a yellow background cuff links. Couldn't understand why my dad didn't wear them! And a sort of underwater scene using a teacup mould. I loved plasticraft. Ive looked at resin stuff in hobbycraft but don't really understand how to use it.
