I'm self isolating and so BORED!

I don't have the energy to do anything useful and I don't have the mental capacity to learn/read anything constructive. Please tell me what to watch on YouTube! I'm in my bedroom so no access to a tv.

Thanking you all in hopeful anticipation!

For anyone who likes true crime, unsolved mysteries, creepy videos/photos... I discovered MrBallen on YouTube last week. I’m addicted! Please note though there is often graphic content and age advisable. Each video is about 20mins long.

tiny home tours
Jits into the sunset
Lauren and the books

viques · 11/05/2021 13:46

I am hooked on peregrine Falcon live web cameras atm. Nothing happens for ages then POW! The one I watch at Salisbury cathedral has four feisty chicks, who are very competitive when it comes to food. There is also one at Nottingham Trent University, one tiny chick and three as yet unhatched eggs. Eggs laid by two different females apparently.

Not for you if you can’t cope with a bit of dismembering, it’s nature red in beak and claw.

viques · 11/05/2021 13:49

Ps ignore above if you want evening entertainment, the peregrines don’t do much after dark!

I spent way too long on tiktok

MrsGusset · 11/05/2021 14:54

Flashmob at St Pancras International
The Elephants that came to dinner at Mfuwe Lodge in Zambia
Birds Dancing to Music from EnglishFunnyClips
American Greed. Real crime series about a huge variety of con artists/scamsters in the USA. (lots of episodes!).
Circassian dance videos e.g. Кабардинка в Москве Circassian Noble Dancing which is quite mesmerising. The less formal Adyg wedding, Cherkess wedding dances I also find enjoyable.

BetterThanKleenex · 11/05/2021 17:49

Taskmaster! Lots of compilations you can just stick on and let them play.
Also, embarassingly, TikTok. The more you watch and interact, the more the algorithm understands what you like so don't be put off by boring/weird videos at first.

Goldenphoenix · 11/05/2021 18:37

And then there were none. The three part adaptation is on YouTube, watched it the other day. It's fabulous!

PlayDohDots · 11/05/2021 18:44

Oooh I also love Pecos Hank!
Dead mall and urban exploration channels are also fascinating and oddly calming to watch before bedtime.

KarenBritChick - her series on what people are wearing each season in New York are amazing. Some of the outfits are stunning. Such imagination and such characters.

Michael Spicer - His The Room Next Door videos where he is speaking into the earpieces of various politicians while they are making speeches /talking at conferences etc are inspired. Some actually have me laughing out loud and I live on my own and am a bit depressed these days.

Reactistan - where people from remote villages in parts of Pakistan try foods from other countries. The regulars they have on are just such wonderful people and it’s so interesting to hear what they think to our over-processed crap. More and more viewers are sending things for them to try along with gifts for them and their families. The comments sections is so heartwarming as there are viewers from all over the world who have taken the people who are on it, to their hearts.

Another vote for:
Bald and a Bankrupt
ReactThing
The Ulengovs - a couple who moved to a rural part of Russia and now film village life in remote areas like Dagestan, Tartastan, Udmurtia. It’s fascinating.

I have some strange tastes:

Cat stuff:
Kitten Academy (livestream)
Tiny Kittens (livestream with lively chat)
Flatbush Cats

Historical sewing:
Bernadette Banner
Rachel Maksy
Morgan Donne
Sewstine
Karolina Zebrowsky (apols for spelling)
Also worth googling for gossip on the massive fallout between Bernadette Banner and the Foundations Revealed woman doing the eternal peacock dress, all very weird.

Quilting:
Jordan Fabrics
Just get it done quilts

DNA ethnicity reaction videos from GeneaVlogger - lots of people freaking out because their genes are very different to what they‘d thought.

Safiya Nygaard - funnny lifestyle and make-up stuff.

Aviation: (latest youtube obsession, I now know how to land a 737 in an emergency)
Mentour Pilot
74 Gear

American hosts:
Late Show with Steven Colbert
John Oliver
Daily Show with Trevor Noah
Seth Myers

Plain weird:
Ask a Mortician. Yes, it’s about death.

When I hit that I’m bored wall on YouTube, I usually switch things up instead of scrolling the same recommendations. Short films, indie music sessions, or mini docs are great for that quick to watch but still interesting. Lately I’ve been checking out more experimental, creator-driven videos that feel less polished and more human. If you’re into discovering random creative stuff without committing to long videos, I stumbled across this platform that curates short, unconventional clips from new creators https://thetabootube.com. It’s a nice change of pace when YouTube starts feeling repetitive.
