Any other subscription box fans and want to discuss?!

I get and love:

Cohorted £40 a month but the beauty stuff you get is worth so much more and really impressive.

Pyjama drama I get twice a year for me and my teen and love.

Gousto I get a box every month and love.

Freddie's flowers get once a month and love

Rocco teen gets this cheap and cheerful but higher value than you pay.

Fit and fab 4 times a year, a bit hit and miss might not get next year.

No criticism please, I gave up alcohol last year and was spending £70 a week on alcohol and I have a lot of physical health problems so spend on lovely gifts that really cheer me up!

Anyone get any good ones? And want to discuss!!

Gin craft club every other month and my daughter gets the Girl Be box. Both are pretty good value.

used to get a period box but it went out of business and i switched to reusables. Wasnt impressed by glossybox.

greyspottedgoose · 09/05/2021 15:46

I get prettysuds subscription box, £15 a month, it's bath bombs and they are absolutely lovely, I'm sure I saw a recommendation on here when someone was looking for a lush substitute.

Laaaaa · 09/05/2021 15:47

@lightningpeach oh I'll have a look. Do you have a referral code? Yep I know what you mean so much pasta and rice with Guosto as well
@WeeFae oh that sounds amazing is it good? So you have a referral code!
They don't seem to do referral codes, but here is a link to their website - snacksurprise.com

DeathAndTaxis · 09/05/2021 15:49

We love Gousto - it's made meal planning so much less stressful, and we've made some lovely dinners (we get three meals per week usually). DM me if you'd like a referral code - 60% off your first box, and 30% off for the rest of the month 🙂.

Laaaaa · 09/05/2021 15:50

AmeliaF17 Free Freddie's flower code. You get box free and I get something if you sign up

@WeeFae that looks good but I'm too fat and will just eat it all!

I have never got one but I love looking at them to decide if I think they are good value etc. I like thinking about what I'd put in one if I started up my own subscription company, but I think all the good ones are taken!

LavendarMoon · 09/05/2021 15:56

I use Gruum for shampoo bars, soap etc. It’s very flexible. You can swap what you want in the box and change delivery dates.

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 09/05/2021 16:03

Thanks @WeeFae just signed up. The kids will love trying all the different snacks

iklboo · 09/05/2021 16:05

Thanks @WeeFae - I've signed up too. It'll arrive for DH's birthday.

WeeFae · 09/05/2021 16:06

I've given the snack boxes as gifts as well, they always go down well!

SouthOfFrance · 09/05/2021 16:07

A pyjama one?! I'm going to need to look into that. It sounds entirely frivolous!

Well done Op for cutting down on the alcohol, that's a massive change to make!

Laaaaa · 09/05/2021 16:07

What one do you get the small middle or large @wee

OP posts:
Laaaaa · 09/05/2021 16:09

@SouthOfFrance it's this one www.pyjamadramabox.co.uk/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI2L37ufC88AIVUNTtCh2dHguKEAAYASAAEgKKqfD_BwE

You can get it monthly but surely no one needs new jammies every month or do they!

@Laaaaa

What one do you get the small middle or large *@wee*
We get the largest one, it keeps us in snacks (3 of us) for the month!
RubaiyatOfAnyone · 09/05/2021 16:14

I get several, mainly as a result of trying to liven up lockdown (esp with a baby/toddler.)

Gousto has been genuinely wonderful and got me back into cooking. If anyone wants 60% off their first box and 30% off the rest of the month, my referral code is
ABIGA42330910

I started getting my mum Bloom & Wild flowers monthly when the weather turned bad last autumn, as she was no longer going out and missed fresh flowers. She sends me pics and they always look wonderful.

Snack Surprise as pp snacksurprise.com/ - a box of snacks from a different country each time. Got for dh for a Christmas present, but devoured equally by dd1. We’ve just had portugal which was surprisingly good.

For me Skin+Me has been life changing - i had bad skin, either as a result of lockdown or post-baby, and now i have glowing blemish-free skin which is a huge confidence boost.

For dd1 i get “Bring a book to life”
www.bringabooktolife.com/ which gives you a book and loads of surrounding gubbins - it is totally wonderful, but the 6-8 age group is just slightly too old for her at just-6 (although she is a confident reader) so i may cancel this and resubscribe in a year or so.

I also got Mysteries in Time for dd1 www.mysteriesintime.co.uk/aztec-empire.html which does a different country’s history each month as she loves history and it filled a really good homeschooling niche in lockdown, but i’m thinking of cancelling now as it is not engaging her long-term, apart from the craft project in each box.

Happily here to look out for further recommendations...Grin

Winterfellismyhome · 09/05/2021 16:16

I love a subscription box! Ive tried glossybox, birchbox and look fantastic but got a bit bored of them. I only subscribe to Books that matter now and i love it

stackhead · 09/05/2021 16:17

Gousto to take the dullness out of planning and cooking. It varies how much we use it, I've planned a box for every week in May and it's losing its specialness so will probably go back to once a month after this.

Reposed for a monthly book subscription. I'm enjoying the variety of books they send and it 'forces' me back into the reading habit which I've lost over the last year.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 09/05/2021 16:18

I have occasionally been tempted by some subscription boxes - one of the beauty ones, a stationary one and an art one (you get the supplies and equipment for a different craft with instructions) - but have never succumbed (yet).

I know I would enjoy getting a box of treats, and I love the look of some of the actual boxes (I am a sucker for a pretty box to keep things in Blush), but I worry that I’d end up stockpiling things and not using them up - especially the beauty boxes, as I don’t use make up.

Elmo230885 · 09/05/2021 16:24

I get Simply Cook which I love as I really enjoy cooking but find I can lack inspiration. I've recreated several dishes from their initial recipes. This is usually monthly but during lockdown I kept pushing it back as I wasn't getting to the shops enough for fresh ingredients.
Also get Degusta box, I like this one as it's different every month. Sometimes there are odd items I don't like but mostly it's nice to try new things.

EveningOverRooftops · 09/05/2021 16:30

Scrawlr box. Basically a box of art supplies with a theme to do some artwork with.

I’m looking at a make box atm but already have a ton of things I need to finish

RestUp · 09/05/2021 16:31

I get very boring subscriptions including;

Bamboo Toilet roll
Bamboo toothbrushes
Toothpaste in tablet form
Soaps and shampoo bar (no plastic).
Cleaning products (no plastic).
No plastic deodorant.
Washing machine tabs
Dish washer tabs

They all come monthly, 3 monthly or 6 monthly.

Nothappyland · 09/05/2021 16:39

We get Hello Fresh, Gousto and Simply Cook. We mix up which one (if any) we get per week depending on whether we like much on there. You can sign up to them but skip weeks on their app if you don’t need one. Simply Cook is really nice and slightly different to HF and Gousto, haven’t had a bad one though yet.

Also have a Whirli subscription, which gives you a certain amount of moneys worth of toys to have at any one time. It means I can get toys sent for DD and then send them back when she’s bored of them and get new ones.

Those people who are putting referral codes on here - be careful, I found an old post on MN about Whirli subscription when I was thinking of trying it and loads of people put their codes and got them revoked and had to pay their benefits back.

RubaiyatOfAnyone · 09/05/2021 16:40

@SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius you just reminded me with your description of pretty boxes, that i used to get FairyLoot too which has lovely boxes, which was a Young Adult fantasy book and associated gubbins.

I usually love YA and fantasy, but their definition seemed solely to consist of “dystopian future where one teenage girl will totally reveal herself as the Chosen One who will cure all the problems, as soon as she’s decided which of these two hot guys who are fighting over her she’s going to choose.” Which got a bit tedious. Kept it going at least two months longer than i should have because i wanted the boxes for storage Blush
