Travel PCR test/Fit to Fly

Hi, I’m going to have to travel to Germany for family reasons and I have just seen that the entry requirement is a negative PCR test taken within 48 hours before arrival on German soil instead of the 72 hours before departure that other countries ask for.
Has anyone done this recently ? I’m in the Leeds area and absolutely panicking that I won’t get my result in time. Has anybody got any recommendations for a quick, efficient company to use? TIA

@nodal not a perfect analogy - as a society we have decided it’s favourable to treat all health conditions regardless of their cause for the greater good of all. I’m not sure there’d be the same societal consensus about funding the means to facilitate optional travel in a global pandemic

And when travel is officially sanctioned by one's government? Do you feel it's still appropriate to rip people off for wanting to see relatives abroad that they haven't bsee for 2 years?

Excellent news. I would love to go to the Greek Islands this year and this suddenly makes it more affordable. I’ve travelled with Tui before without problems so will look at what’s available potentially nowSmile

@VanCleefArpels

One reason why NHS should not be used in these circs is that why should the taxpayer fund someone’s choice to fly abroad?
I suggested the nhs test and trace system could charge for people using the system in this way. No subsidisation required.

@nodal - sanction dues not equal instruction or encouragement. And these are all choices - it’s regrettable people haven’t seen their families abroad. But I’m afraid it’s not something that should come at the cost of the public purse. I’d be amazed if the actual cost of the testing / processing if paid to NHS would be much less than the more competitive private providers.

Just came in to say I’ve had a dreadful experience with Anglia DNA fit to fly and the days 2 &8 tests on return as well as test to release. Do not use this company. Check out the reviews on google. They get one star. Absolutely shocking that they continue to be on the government list. A scam. Avoid avoid avoid.

Posted this elsewhere but have found out that Tui have funded a deal for their customers for the necessary COVID tests for £20pp for green and £50 for amber countries. This definitely makes it more affordable for us and hopefully anyone else looking to book a package.
