It’s SO cold!

ITV weather woman just described it as “remarkably cold” for the time of year. Snow forecast next week. Wtf!

It's early May, what do you expect? Grin Be patient.

JocastaNu · 05/05/2021 19:49

@Woodpecker22

Sorry everyone it is my fault. I ordered blinds, had the patio redone and put up a parasol and it has been freezing cold, windy and rainy ever since.
Nah, pretty sure it's my fault. I washed and packed away all our winter hiking gear a couple of weeks ago.

@Keepyourdistance000

This is very similar to spring 2018 which was followed by a three month heatwave...
I brought home my mid-April baby in 2018 in shorts and a t-shirt, the heatwave started about earlier than May if I remember rightly. Maybe it's saving itself for a bit later this year...

Just looked at my photos for 2018. It looks pretty miserable up until 15th April but brilliant sunshine after that.

DoodleLovin · 05/05/2021 20:31

County Kerry in Eire here- saw some snow on the mountain tops today. It’s mad!

Well, I bought a new hammock and made cushions for the outdoor patio furniture so think it's my bad too. Soz everyone.

Brrrrrrr

Yeah the 2018 heatwave deffo started earlier than this because I had to run a bloody marathon in it. Back the old days, when the London Marathon was still a thing.

ThursdayLastWeek · 05/05/2021 20:34

Maybe it won’t piss down all August?

Homehelpneeded · 05/05/2021 20:36

Midlands...
Im worried about my plants!!!!!!
Planted garden up thinking I'm getting a head start.
Sunflower seedlings are looking cold... should I be bringing them back in?! There about 3 inches tall!

Ellieboolou33 · 05/05/2021 20:43

Long may it stay like this, I dislike summer and bloody HATE heatwaves 😃

ozymandiusking · 05/05/2021 20:47

For some strange reason, I have a feeling it's going to be a lovely summer. No evidence though. It's probably just hope!

feelinggeriatric · 05/05/2021 20:48

I turned up the heating today - gave in!!

As long as it warms up for the first week of June (half term) when I actually get to go and stay somewhere that is not my house and be by the sea, I can be patient ...

Donitta · 05/05/2021 20:49

We just had the coldest May bank holiday on record. It snowed here today.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 05/05/2021 20:59

I’m with Ellieboolou33 on this, love the cold weather.

MeanderingGently · 05/05/2021 21:11

I love it, best May I've had for years, I HATE the heat.
And I'm warning you, once the real summer does kick in, cold weather now means a nasty hot, drought-dry summer once it actually starts.
I remember the drought of '76, it snowed in early June in central England but then blazing heat for weeks and weeks afterwards.....

Sounds fabulous. I'm basically a lizard, it can't get hot enough for me.

“sorry guys it’s my fault”

Comical mn thread about why the weather is so awful

Great, I’m so cold now.

Ah balls, this is my nightmare. I love cold weather and have been hoping this start to the year means a cooler year all round.

I remember 2018 as the year of a summer breakdown - after 3 months of daily 30 degree weather round here, I almost lost my mind and was actually signed off sick as I couldn't eat or sleep anymore.

Might start looking at air conditioners again now Smile

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 06/05/2021 10:09

2°C this morning according to my car. We've barely had the heating off so far this year. Snow in May is not unheard of. I am hoping it warms up soon though.

Thatisnotwhatisaid · 06/05/2021 10:10

I was about 7 months pregnant this time last year and suffering with the heat Grin. I was also pregnant during the 2018 heatwave which was utterly miserable...

Not pregnant now and it’s typically a cold spring. Sigh.

Keepyourdistance000 · 06/05/2021 10:36

Come July and August and 35c+ humid weather we'll be saying it's too hot.

Back in summer 2018 there was a thread about how we were longing for autumn and how there was no end in sight to the heatwave.

Sexnotgender · 06/05/2021 10:39

@LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow

Windy WIlson says 10th of May...he is an amateur Scottish weatherman!

no a bastarding clairvoyant! Small in joke for his followers.

We can see quite a good deal of new snow on the hills from us...over the Grampians and a bit beyond...Cairngorms I think!

Love Windy Wilson!
OhToBeASeahorse · 06/05/2021 10:42

I'd just like some middle ground. Warm enough for no coats but cool enough not to need to douse every part of DS in suncream.

I'm finding breastfeeding so hard with it being so chilly out

SusannaMorvern · 06/05/2021 10:44

Our school insists on summer dresses this term, no matter the weather. It’s going to be 4 degrees C when I drop them off tomorrow!!!!

I hate that kind of uniform pettiness. Our school insists jumpers are no longer worn as it's now Summer, fortunately most of the teachers are ignoring, but there's always a hardcore few (who are wrapped up in warm clothes themselves). With wind-chill it's 3⁰C here and was trying to snow last night.
Desperate for it to warm up, I can't cope with the cold. We still have the heating on, our oil bill is epic this year.
