Any doctors/nurses up? Urgent advice required

Warning - TMI - if you're not a doctor or nurse you may want to give this a miss...

I have just discovered an old tampon that has been in for approx 10 days. I have removed it, I am otherwise feeling fine. Do I need to go to the doctor (or A&E, I guess, given the hour) to get checked out? Or would I have symptoms if something was wrong?

Many thanks in advance.

@Homeschoolgetmeoutofhere

TMI but out of interest how did you know/ how did you find it? About 10 days ago I could have sworn I put a tampon in but after searching decided I couldn’t have done because I couldn’t find it Blush. How obvious was it?
I’ve done this and I think it was in for about 10 days. I too looked as I’d thought I’d put one in but couldn’t find it. An offensive smell gave it away and it took some acrobatic moves to contortion myself into a position to actually grab it. Have another look around. Mine was behind my cervix.

Yes, they tuck away adjacent to the cervix usually - amazingly easy to not notice until the smell is evident (I’ve done it myself).

To clarify, yes of course TSS exists, but it is rare, and when occurs not often linked to tampons. I believe the link is from the type of material tampons were made from in the USA in the 70’s, which posed a higher risk.

Hope you continue to feel well, OP
