Would you ever do a skydive?

It's defiantly high up on my bucket list. A friend of mine did one a few years ago and she said it was the most thrilling thing shes ever done.

Jumped in my teens and loved it. Would love to do it again.

WeeDonkey · 02/05/2021 20:48

Not a chance; I've never had the brave gene!

Did a tandem jump for a big birthday. Had wanted to do one for years. Was great but really loved the floaty bit a massive amount more than the free fall bit. Had to remind myself to breath on the first bit!!!
So so so glad I did it but done it now. Not a huge need to do it again. Strangely you would never ever get me to go a bungee jump...

I did one in my early twenties and loved it - you don't really feel like you are falling during the free fall bit, the scariest part for me was when they opened the parachute because that's when you feel the g force and realise you are hundreds of metres in the air!!!

I don't think I would do one now though, it's one of those things I am glad I did when I was young. Ditto for bungee jump!

Waveafterwaveslowlydrifting · 02/05/2021 20:49

No. I have breast implants (modest ones) so I'm not allowed!

sunshineandshowers21 · 02/05/2021 20:49

i did a tandem skydive on friday! it was a birthday present from a friend and something i’d never have even considered but oh my god was it amazing. the rush of adrenaline was like nothing i’ve ever experienced. i’ve already booked to do another! i’m trying to talk my boyfriend into doing it as well but no luck so far.

KillerFlamingo · 02/05/2021 20:50

I loved it and would have done it again before DC but I couldn't do it while DC is dependent on me. There are so many risks in life, it just seems selfish to add more unnecessary ones and risk leaving a child motherless.

When he's grown up and left though, sign me up!

Cuntryhouse · 02/05/2021 20:51

@PowerhouseOfTheCell i fucked my ear up too! It wasn't perforated, but couldn't hear for a few days.

wheresmyhairytoe · 02/05/2021 20:53

Hell to the no!

I'd be terrified and as I get motion sickness on a lilo I'm sure I'd be vomiting horrendously all the way down.

crankyhousewife · 02/05/2021 20:56

I've done it 174 times and it was where I met my husband. My whole life revolved around skydiving for many years. Mental health problems stopped me jumping but I will always be a skydiver at heart.

mindutopia · 02/05/2021 21:23

I have done it once. Nope, no amount of money you could pay me to do it again. 😬

poppycat10 · 02/05/2021 21:34

@SteveArnottsCodeine

I’ve always loved the idea of it, but the fear of the parachute not working and splatting on the ground at a million miles an hour is too big a fear for me to get past and actually do it.
Yes same here. Not a chance.
ClashCityRocker · 02/05/2021 21:34

I think I could do a tandem one assuming that I'm literally just strapped to someone competent and they do the jumping and faff with the chute etc.

I don't think I could bring myself to jump out of a plane at that height and be responsible for pulling the chute at the right time,no

Strokethefurrywall · 02/05/2021 21:36

Have done one and would absolutely do it again.

It was hands down the most exhilarating rush and the only thing I can compare that rush to was when I had DS1 after a hypnobirth. Felt like I was off my tits euphoric, I wish they could bottle that shit because I felt like I could eat nails for days.

I’m 41 now and my kids are still young so maybe I’ll do another when I’m 50 and the kids are older and less “dependent” on me.

Pyewackect · 02/05/2021 21:36

I’d love to do one,

Viviennemary · 02/05/2021 21:42

No. I'd be terrified.

HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 02/05/2021 21:44

The thought of going in a rickety little Plane puts me right off. So too does the thought of the parachute and the reserve parachute failing to open up. I can think of better ways to cark it and it doesn't involve smashing up my internal organs by plummeting hundreds of feet to the ground at a hundred miles an hour

DramaAlpaca · 02/05/2021 21:45

No. Absolutely, definitely not.

I did an abseil once, town a tower block. It was the scariest thing I've ever done in my life and I never want to do it again.

Mum2jenny · 02/05/2021 21:48

It’s not something I’d book for myself. But I’d give it a go as I’ve always said I’d try anything once, but will never guarantee to repeat an experience,

TheChosenTwo · 02/05/2021 21:52

Probably not, I really dislike flying and will pretty much only do it to get to a lovely holiday destination!
The likelihood of me voluntarily setting foot on one of those piddly little things where the doors fly open isn’t high up on my agenda of fun things to do Grin

DenisetheMenace · 02/05/2021 21:54

Fuck no

Forcedoutoflurking · 02/05/2021 23:01

Did a tandem jump which was exhilarating. Did a bungee jump as well which was MUCH scarier. Having to make that leap yourself compared to the tandem ...took them a long time to persuade me to jump when I was on the plank, but I'm very glad I did. I'm terrified of heights, even going up a ladder is challenging for me...

Ginflinger · 02/05/2021 23:07

Every weekend possible spent in dodgy airfields and flying clubs when I was 21/22. Saved my life, actually.

47 now and cannot believe that was me.

OldScrappyAndHungry · 02/05/2021 23:10

I have done it in my 30s - best rush ever! I loved it! Would do it again but overweight at the moment. It’s my promise to myself when I lose the weight Grin.

lilyj13 · 02/05/2021 23:10

I did one for charity - never again
