Background -
I'm waiting for a dental procedure on a painful tooth, so am temporarily not used to it being there carrying a tube of extra strong oragel in my pocket for when it's really bad.
I also have very dry eyes and don't produce tears, so always have a tube of eye lubricant in my pocket.
I have been so, so careful in checking which one is which before applying the eye gel, but this afternoon I didn't, as was too busy talking.
Reached into the pocket, pulled out a tube, took off the lid and began to apply WHILST STILL BLOODY TALKING!!!.AS soon as the oragel touched my eye I screamed, and carried on screaming until my partner managed to race to the kitchen to soak some paper towel in cold water for me to put on my eye, whilst he guided me to the sink as at this point I couldn't see. Just had what felt like a red hot poker in my eye.
I then just kept rinsing my eye with cold water, for what felt like hours because hell fire, the pain WAS hellish!
I'm so very lucky for my eye is ok as the oragel only just touched the inner corner of my lower lid. Had I managed to spread it across the whole of it I shudder to think what would have been the outcome.
My lower lid and skin below it are sore and red, but my sight is fine.
I never, never want to go through such a horrible experience again.
