I have much more important threads ongoing at the moment but mt DF has just called in regards to a song he and a friend have had in their heads for 6 days now but can't find. This is where I need your help on a near impossible task.

He said it's an instrumental (helpful), likely a one hit wonder and from the 70's and instantly makes him think of 'Do the Hustle' but it's definitely not that.

Any ideas??

After sending him some of those, he's said it may be an oboe rather Hmm

Could it be Green Onions? From the 60s so too early though

timtam23 · 26/04/2021 22:18

It's not an instrumental but it does have a really recognisable instrumental bit (saxophone) and it's from the 70s - Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty?

WarmSausageTea · 26/04/2021 22:25

Van McCoy had hits with the Hustle and the Shuffle. Not sure either have any clarinet or oboe.

Acker Bill had a hit with Aria in the mid-70s.

Apologies, can’t do links atm, but both should be on YouTube or similar.

Staying with the previously mentioned Herb Alpert, what about Spanish Flea?

JMJ, Oxygene pt. 4?

I know they are different decades but worth a shot.

I love the idea of Kelly Marie being an oboe instrumental from the 70s Grin

In the club style ...

Chatanooga1 · 27/04/2021 01:48

Courtney Pine was prominent in the 80s. Any of his music?
