MRI scan and the ring that won't come off

I have an MRI booked and I have also put in a stone or 4 two over the last few years.

I have a ring (white gold with a teeny diamond) that absolutely will not come off, will I have to cut it off for the scan or is there something else I can do?

The hospital line is automated so I cant ask the department until I get there.

Thank you.

Another MRI regular.....I get my head scanned so don’t have the joy of headphones, it is really loud but there is a rhythm to the bangs I find oddly relaxing (strange girl Grin )
It can be quite claustrophobic and in my case, as it’s my head they’re doing, I get to wear a lovely cage. Someone told me years ago you’re not supposed to move at all in there so I’m always completely still but that info may not be correct and I always forget to check in advance. Check with radiographer before.
Make sure you go to the loo before your appointment.
Pre-Covid I’d have to change into a gown and just wear T-shirt, knicks and socks underneath (no bra cos of the metal) but my last one (Covid era) I wore jogging bottoms and a T-shirt which I’d been advised beforehand was best.

I had an MRI scan last year (on my chest) and it wasn't until I got out that I realised that I still had my phone in my front jeans pocket Blush The radiographer said it wasn't a problem and the phone was fine, too!

Beware of the music option, I had to listen to Miley Cyrus with no way of escape 😁. The actual MRI noise is a bit like listening to techno, I just lie there and relive my clubbing days.

If they're doing your head, close your eyes before they put the cage on and keep them closed until it's off.
Take a CD and they may be able to play that for you. Even the time they claimed not to know how, they managed it for me.

YES! i had an MRI scan on my foot earlier this week. Was quite the experience trying to stop my feet twitching in time to the MRI/techno beats.

I've never had an MRI, do you have to drink that weird drink and get the dye injected like a CT scan? Just out of interest!

I had MRI recently. Same problem. My ring sounds v similar to yours gold band with 3 small diamonds set in it. Worried about it in advance , it was in lockdown so could not go to jeweller. Apparently A & E will cut ring off but thought that was a bit OTT especially in the circumstances. Anyway it was fine (whole body scan) Also do not worry too much about the experience- it is noisy but by the end I was almost dozing! Good luck.

I think it depends. I had something injected a dye to check blood flow.
