Recending Gums

I'm 43. I have really bad gum recession. I use a toothbrush that flashes red if too much pressure is applied and floss about 80% of the time but it is just getting worse. Looks bad after last couple of months. Dentist thinks I brush too hard but my new brush doesn't agree.

Any ideas? I'm worried my teeth will fall out. It looks awful.

I'm going to see if I can get an appointment with the dentist and have bought some brushes. I don't want to look long in the tooth! It's depressing. This morning, dispite cleaning really carefully, I can feel my gums. Is that normal?

Like a PP, my teeth are healthy, just a bit wonky. I'd love a brace too.

@TeenTitan007 I was just using CoQ10 with mct (coconut oil basically as its fat soluble) 100 mg a day. And fermented cod liver oil, or if you aren't keen on that, Rosita's extra virgin cod liver oil. There's plenty of info out there about diet and teeth and gums, and I've tried to implement a lot of that. My gums weren't terrible, but they weren't good and I had some pockets and recession. They now are good, good enough to have a brace. I also ditched my sonacare toothbrush having used it for years, and have a soft manual brush now

I'm going to look in H&B later for CoQ10. I'm convinced my mother took this back in the day.

Another vote for a water flossed. I use a Wayerpik plugged in in the bathroom.

Without it, even though I floss and brush twice a day, my gums still bleed. Regular water flossing stops the bleeding. It took a couple of days for my gums to get used to it snd even longer to move up from the gentlest setting to the higher ones but now I am sorted.

My gums started receding when I was 18 and I was accused of brushing too hard. I dont. They just receded no matter what.

Yes, I get black triangles after using TiPis.

I just have bad gums and teeth. Thank god for implants, crowns, veneers and inlays.

Well I think the Coq10 has had some unpleasant side effects for me and I dare not take anymore. Expensive too! Maybe I'll give it a few weeks and retry them.

Oh no what side effects?

Iceniii · 20/04/2021 21:28

My stomach didn't like them. I'll try again in a few weeks just incase it was a bug, but it does call it out as a side effect.

It’s addictive as they keep your teeth feeling very clean!

^^ agreed I hate when I'm out and can't do it after eating

My teeth are so close together that none of the brushes will fit. Some flosses are too wide.
I'm worried about gum recession, use a brush with a sensor and floss. I'm on prescription toothpaste too.
Anything else I could do?
