clothing brands for 'cool' teenagers?

Hi all,

Just looking for a bit of a steer on what brands your teenagers are wearing if they're outdoorsy types but also wanting to be cool (or fetch or sick or whatever word is being used these days to qualify things NOT looking like yer ma bought them for you) Grin

I really don't want to wade through endless pages of asos as its quite frankly tedious as hell, so would prefer to have some brand names whose websites I can trawl through - both boys and girls, young teenage

any help much appreciated!

Have a look at a website called Routeone
They have cool stuff apparently

QuentinWinters · 13/04/2021 12:59

Road man is basically wanna be gangsta look. Joggers and hoodies. All have to be one brand apparently.

Camdenish · 13/04/2021 13:04

You have to say Road Man with the capitals to really irritate the tweens though. And I’ve started saying Peng a lot.

Yes to Depop.

I’ve snuck some warm UO into DDs wardrobe.

Hexinthecity · 13/04/2021 13:04

@Tangledtresses routeman is exactly what I'm looking for! I website that doesn't have ANYTHING I would normally look at or wear myself so I'm not tempted to buy 'safe' Any more website of that ilk would be fab if anyone knows of any.

thank you all soo much I really do appreciate it

And never ask them if they think their kidneys may be a little chilly.

Hexinthecity · 13/04/2021 13:05

Peng - christ I don't think I even want to know, sounds painful 😂

Hexinthecity · 13/04/2021 13:06

@Camdenish I remember my granny asking me that ALOT in the 90s when ribbed crop tops were the in thing first time around - also 'you'll catch your death in that'

Tangledtresses · 13/04/2021 13:10

I'll ask the teen later he's asleep 😂

IAmTheDuke · 13/04/2021 13:17

When our teens mention the Road Men’,
DH and I like to say ‘Dig up the road!!’ à la Mr Bull from Peppa Pig.

Oldraver · 13/04/2021 13:21

I've opened this thread thinking I can get a few tops for my teen and have had to Google lots

He doesn't seem to bothered by the latest thing though, or what his friends think

Oldraver · 13/04/2021 13:22

Ha, I bed tips not tops, though the rate he's growing yes to tops and jeans

doorornottodoor · 13/04/2021 13:24

Mine likes vintage - American college sweatshirts, vintage Nike/Adidas. Not sure that helps you though!

The90swereadecadeago · 13/04/2021 13:24

Road man is basically wanna be gangsta look.

Omg when I saw this I assumed it meant road worker, so a man who works in road construction 😊

IAmTheDuke · 13/04/2021 13:26

@The90swereadecadeago Hi-vis, bums out and vest tops might yet be the summer trend for teen boys Grin

The90swereadecadeago · 13/04/2021 13:29

@IAmTheDuke 😁 Haha, I’m sure low trousers under the bum has been a thing for a while. At least you could always just see the pants! Neon is 90s I can see that coming back 🤣

Hexinthecity · 13/04/2021 13:33

😂 @The90swereadecadeago thats what I thought too! @iamduke - buildersbumchic listen who f'ing knows these days wouldnt surprise me! do you remember that trend for wearing oversized jeans belted literally under their arses with designer keks on full display? Still baffles me how their trousers weren't falling down left right and centre

OP posts:
Hexinthecity · 13/04/2021 13:33

crossed post the90s!

OP posts:
Hexinthecity · 13/04/2021 13:34

One of mine was recently deep in conversation telling me about how slip dresses with tshirts underneath were the future, I'm not sure if she was slightly chuffed or majorly embarrassed when I pulled out some old photos of me from 1990 Grin.

Hexinthecity · 13/04/2021 13:40

@implantsandaDyson hahaha - love it

Air Force 1's are a staple here.
There are about 8 pairs, plain black in varying sizes and varying degrees of wear in this house as they are worn to secondary school by 3 boys. At £75 a pop they are kept and handed down or sourced nearly new off eBay.

Clothes wise, Primark men / BooHoo Man is still acceptable thankfully.

Hexinthecity · 13/04/2021 13:45

Its so hard not being able to get out to the shops either so doing it all online. I think google algorithms have imploded today, when I type in tshirt for instance it brings up jigsaw, anthropology and other stories and now I'm trying to force it down an altogether different route. I suspect if I had access to a teenagers laptop to mooch aroujnthe web on it would make my dash a lot easier! this laptop has clearly decided its sits firmly in the middle aged bracket 😂

The PC obviously knows you’re a MNer Hex.

I’ve still got a lot of my 90s/00s clothes. I used to waft around in bits of silken frippery. I don’t think I could cope with the special laundry requirements now. DD could wear them but she’d have to do the washing.

cigarettesanddisappointment · 13/04/2021 15:06

My DS (19) wears:
Supreme (new & vintage)
Palace
Stone Island
Vintage Levi jeans
Vintage Adidas/Benetton/Nike from Depop (basically the jumpers that were worn in the 90s)
North Face coat

Gutting myself. Grin I like to mutter that I'm 'So down wit da yoof' . We're in Scotland so I get withering comments back of ' Where do you think we live, Mother?' Confused
