Hi all,

Myself and DH have been discussing the name Flora Rose (surname Redman)

I personally love it but would like to hear other opinions please...

I wouldn’t use it as due to the margarine, children will make the connection and I’d worry about teasing over it.

I don't think of the margarine at all. I think it's beautiful. But flora rose may be a botanical step too far.

AdaColeman · 08/04/2021 20:20

I like Flora a lot, it doesn't remind me of margarine as I've always eaten butter! Easter Wink

However, I wouldn't use it with Rose, not only too many Rs, but too floral altogether. Also Rose has been the standard (no pun intended) go to middle name for years, so she would be one of thousands.

Have you got a family name that you would consider using for a middle name?

How about Florence instead?

SnoozyBoozy · 08/04/2021 20:44

I know a Flora and I never think of margarine when I see her. If anything, I'd think more about flowers, as in flora and fauna, but again not in a negative way.

Rose is fine too, you rarely use both names together I've found.

I love it but... Depending on the accent of the person a saying it.
I'm from West Coast Scotland and although I would say Flora.. The o being O sound
Many people will say Flora with the o sound.
Not sure I'm a king sense but I'd say it like the O in the name Flo
Others may pronounce the o like the o in orange!
