Possible whisper of a line on LFT - are they like pregnancy tests?

Possible faintest whisper of a line on 1 child's LFT. Not sure if it's just dried that way. Are they like pregnancy tests and it could be an early positive, or is this negative? After 40 mins.

I did these in school, do not read results after 30 minutes. You need to retest and check it exactly 30 mins after testing.

Sorry should have rtft

Knowing how these tests work, I’m unclear how exactly 1min after 30mins the test becomes ‘void’ (this is what the instructions seem to say).
I understand that they have to give a precise time, but it’s unlikely to have evaporated/dried after 40 mins in your case (10 mins after the so called ‘read time’) and I’m not sure why that would cause a false positive.
None of my tests have ever had a faint line appear at any time point afterwards, so any faint line to me would ring alarm bells. (I’ve learnt my lesson through a very faint pregnancy test!!) And I know I am only 1 out of how ever many, not a scientific sample etc etc before anyone points this out to me.

I do agree though, the worrying thing was the 2nd test. I guess your son was not shedding much virus at that point so hopefully didn’t spread to your family.

When I tested positive I had the faintest of lines on a lateral flow test first. Seriously faint!

I don't think we're meant to do lft on children. I'm not sure that's why it hasn't worked tho but I'd bare that in mind next time

He's my child, but he's a big one and the LFT was provided by his 6th form college Grin
