Dark chocolate Easter eggs

I know I’ve probably left it a bit late but I am struggling to find a dark chocolate egg. Has anyone seen any? I’ve tried Tesco, Morrison’s and Co-Op so far. A dark chocolate Lindt bunny would be equally ideal (the ones with the brown ribbon) but again I can’t find one. Trays and trays of milk and white but no dark.

I got a bournville one from Ocado.

UpsyDaisysarmpit · 31/03/2021 20:21

Sainsbury's had Lindt bunnies in dark, and quite a few dark chocolate eggs of different types. I got one myself

LubaLuca · 31/03/2021 20:22

Aldi has some quite fancy-looking dark eggs.

Lidl and Aldi do dark bunnies too I guess it's just down to individual store stock.

AussieSue · 31/03/2021 20:23

Tesco had dark lindt bunnies today but the range of eggs in general seems less this year imo.

YippieKayakOtherBuckets · 31/03/2021 20:24

Thank you all. I can try Sainsburys and Aldi.

Bournville not dark enough, sadly.

Sainsbury's had some in today. And out local newsagents does.

RandomMess · 31/03/2021 20:32

I have a bizarre feeling that Holland & Barrett sell dark choc ones too (can you tell I only like dark choc).

Bourneville 🤮

I was in Aldi the other week but only glanced at the eggs and didn’t notice dark ones. Will investigate further.

There were so, so many cheap milk chocolate eggs in the shops I’ve tried. I think there’s more of a market for dark than the manufacturers realise.

I grabbed the very last one in my local Aldi a couple of days ago.

kowari · 31/03/2021 20:40

I saw the one magicstar1 posted in Aldi last Thursday, plenty left in mine then. Definitely agree with too many cheap milk chocolate ones and not enough decent ones. I like 85% cocoa or higher and there's only extremely expensive ones I've seen, even though I can buy it in a bar for £1 or £2.

Is the blue part a different flavour?

I didn’t mention this as it will get me accused of stealth boasting but it’s for a child, so anything very adult or with lots of truffles etc is a waste.

M&S have a huge, aubergine-shaped, dark chocolate Easter egg in stock this year. Strange, but there you go!

FrankGrillosFloof · 31/03/2021 20:44

Hotel Chocolat

TheFlis12345 · 31/03/2021 20:48

Waitrose usually have the Divine and Green & Blacks dark chocolate eggs.

I bought the milk chocolate version for a relative and each half is a different milk chocolate, one with caramel flakes. I don't know what you mean by very adult.
Thewhiskeronadog · 31/03/2021 20:50

I saw a Waitrose advert for dark chocolate eggs I think, if that's any help?

YippieKayakOtherBuckets · 31/03/2021 20:51

@kowari by “very adult” I mean boozy truffles / sea salt / chilli etc

OP posts:
LordEmsworth · 31/03/2021 20:52

Waitrose was nearly wiped out today, but did have some Divine dark choc with raspberry. Hotel Chocolat only has dark choc eggs left...

kowari · 31/03/2021 20:54

Oh ok, no alcohol. My teen has liked sea salt/chilli chocolate since he was a child though! He is very particular with chocolate.

TheVolturi · 31/03/2021 20:55

I have seen Frys chocolate Easter eggs and I'm pretty sure they are made with Cadbury Bournville chocolate. They are about £3. Seen in home bargains, Iceland and poundland!

I’m not sure why it would be considered a stealth boast - dark chocolate tends to be dairy free which is a necessity for many of all ages (including me!) Hotel chocolat has some lovely ones, though not sure on delivery dates now. Sainsbury’s had loads last time I was in. Have you checked marks and Spencer’s?
