Why are you awake?

One of these threads got me through three nights of early labour so I thought I'd start a new one.

My 5 month old is going through a painful sleep regression and I'm struggling to get her back in the crib. She's snoring gently on my chest while I feel nauseous with exhaustion....

Who else is awake? What are you up to tonight?

I love these threads Smile I love the little glimpses into people's lives all over the world.

As for me, I'm a chronic nightowl and it's just about my bedtime now so I'm heading up in a minute. I'll be up in time to start work at 9.30, and I'll catch up with my sleep at the weekend.

I'm envious of a cuddly baby, mine are all grown up now and I miss the cuddles. Not the exhaustion though.

YukoandHiro · 30/03/2021 02:04

She's my second and I'm trying to hold on to the snuggles and moan about the tiredness less this time because it goes so fast. My elder daughter is almost 4 and barely sits on my lap for two seconds now.

The clock change is prob messing with my head a bit also, but we have some duck eggs hatching and they are right by my bed. So exciting!

Night shift, I'm a sister in A+E. Just on my break. Its been bloody horrible so far!

LeeluTheNarwhal · 30/03/2021 02:05

Both DC are teens and I'm not a morning person so late at night is the only time I really get to myself. I'm lying in bed watching TV while on MN though and waiting on DH to come to bed, we'll probably watch something together before sleeping.

pigsahoy · 30/03/2021 02:08

My six year old just woke up to go for a wee. Then I looked at my phone and saw a WhatsApp message from my ex Shock

PanPeter · 30/03/2021 02:08

My DC who is 3 days old hasn’t slept since 8pm this evening. I’ve had a grand total of 7 hours sleep since Thursday evening. I so hope it gets easier Sad

It really does get so much easier. I promise this will pass. Sending a big hug to you, it will all be fine Thanks
YukoandHiro · 30/03/2021 02:09

That's exciting @NatashasTooth - are the eggs starting to crack?

OP posts:
YukoandHiro · 30/03/2021 02:10

Sorry to hear that @dalmatianmad - is it still very covidy?

I'm wide awake just moved myself to the sofa
Husband snoring and making loud odd noises....he can't help it so rather than lie there getting frustrated I've left him to it !!!!

NatashasTooth · 30/03/2021 02:11

Yes! Two have cracks in them now. And a third is wibbling about. There is the occasional cheep.

YouWereGr8InLittleMenstruators · 30/03/2021 02:12

DD1 and I have got Covid, she's been up and down all evening and I have finally offered her to top to toe with me in the spare room bunk beds which is where I am camping out. She's now out like a light, which is what she needs, but she's a big girl and it's only a single bed (top bunk out of action as used for storage atm). Hence I am eye-poppingly wide awake. Gawd...

Lulu1919 · 30/03/2021 02:13

Poorly children ....awww

YukoandHiro · 30/03/2021 02:13

Oh @PanPeter the first couple of weeks are very very hard. Just rest when you can day or night and try not to count the hours. Don't do anything else except feed, cuddle and sleep whenever you can.
Are you breastfeeding? It's really common for them to clustrefeed at this time of night in the early days and weeks and they are building your milk supply.
It does get easier, slowly and in stages. Sleep is not linear though. It gets much better, then worse, then better etc etc.
Hang in there xxx

@NatashasTooth That sounds adorable! I couldn't sleep through that

Being up with babies and children in the night is exhausting! One of ours just came down and is now lying between us. He comes into our bed almost every night (and isn’t our youngest!), almost sleepwalking.

GoodNewsAhead · 30/03/2021 02:19

Waiting for a call from the Out of hours as have had diarrhea for the past week and its now really watery to the point where I can barely get to the bathroom when I wake up.

All those with little ones enjoy the cuddles.

Floralnomad · 30/03/2021 02:20

I’m nearly always awake at this time , just catching up on the news and will go to sleep shortly , I’ve only ever needed 4/5 hours sleep . Hope all the poorly people get well soon .

YukoandHiro · 30/03/2021 02:25

Poor you @YouWereGr8InLittleMenstruators - how are you feeling? Could you create a bigger camp bed on the floor next to her to give yourself space to spread?

Lying with my baby on my chest after a night feed

namechange53848593 · 30/03/2021 02:29

I'm awake as I had a migraine earlier so slept early evening for a couple of hours to get rid of it and now I'm not tired.

Also I split my time between mine and my partners house (we're bubbled) and the first night at either I always find I don't drift off as quick due to the routine change and different bed.

Sandarellas · 30/03/2021 02:29

Morning campers. Anyone and remedies for teething cough. LO won’t stop coughing, she is cutting 2 molars and is coughing non stop even when sitting up. No sleep. Lots of snot and the occasional vomit for good measure. I’m desperate. Help 😩😩😩

73kittycat73 · 30/03/2021 02:29

Just can't get to sleep tonight, not tired. It might be because I had some PepsiMax about 8pm ish. Don't usually have it so late. Couldn't sleep so got up and back on the computer. Mind you, I've bought a new latch for the new garden gate so I've done something productive. :D
