Dd1 is 22 and a total joy. She lives at home whilst saving, and pulls her weight etc. Our relationship is excellent, so why do I feel a kind of reptilian fury when she uses a makeup item or cream or something cosmetic of mine?! Is anyone else like this? I mean I'd give her my kidney, my last penny, lay down my life for her... So why does it needle me when she uses my shampoo?

I don't mind sharing my stuff with DD but I strongly object when it's not put back so I have to go hunting for it.

This would give me the absolute rage... I have a younger sister and most of our fights growing up were about her using my things, unfortunately I really doubt I’d share my nice cosmetics with a teen daughter! 🙈

sandyballs that is exactly it! Grooming is the last vestige of personal luxury in a life where you feel you devote everything to your children. Or something like that anyway.

I used to do stuff like this just to annoy my mumBlush

I never minded them borrowing shampoo or moisturiser etc., as long as they put it back!

Which they hardly ever did.🤬
