I can't begin to imagine how hard things have been for her and her family. Our daughters are the same age, and I often think about her. Remembering what she is going through reminds me to count my blessings, especially during lock down.

I hope she's home soon.

Tulip Siddiq has just tweeted, Nazanin's ankle bracelet has been removed, but, she has been summoned to court next Sunday.

Just let her go.

I have followed this story too and have heard her husband speak on a few podcasts. What a terrible game between two countries this poor family have been caught in. Iran have been despicable of course, but have they not just reacted to the U.K. being terrible? Please forgive me if I’m wrong but I’m sure Britain owes Iran money over an agreed arms deal that Britain reneged on and have been taken to court for several times. The court dates coincide with a few dates where Nazanin was told she’d be released and then it didn’t go Iran’s way.

I’m not excusing it at all, civilians should never be pawns in political posturing, but I’ve wondered before if that’s why the U.K. haven’t made more of a fuss to get her home.

I’m just repeating things that I’ve heard on podcasts a while ago, so I’m happy to be corrected and apologies if the details are incorrect, but all I see when I look at her family is yet more British citizens let down and deserving justice. How she will ever recover from this I don’t know, or her daughter.

Oh god that's awful. That poor family. Another week of torture, it's so unfair.

PuttingOnMyParts · 07/03/2021 23:51

I feel so sorry for her and her family. Even if/when she does get back to the UK, she will never want to risk returning to Iran so won’t be able to see her family there again.

So does anybody know what happened??

Namechangedzzz · 12/03/2021 06:10

@IdleJoe

Do you mean what has happened recently or what happened originally?

We are friends of their extended family. I can 100% say that she is innocent of what she has been accused of. She was doing her usual holiday to visit family when she was arrested. The second lot of charges were only added when Boris made a blunder 😟 Who knows what new charges will added on Sunday. I sincerely hope there will be no extra charges but why else would they be calling her back to court

Clawdy · 12/03/2021 09:01

Somebody on an earlier post said wrongly that the second hearing was last Monday, that's why IdleJoe is asking, I think. Fingers crossed for Sunday.

TheWarbler · 12/03/2021 09:10

I agree, this situation gets me right in the gut

Me too. The unspeakable cruelty of separating an innocent mother from her child for so many years. And Richard is utterly devoted to her. I hope they can re-build their lives and have another baby (as she says she wants to).

Left in limbo... for 5 years. Shocking that an innocent visit to relatives led to this nightmare
