Shit, I've only gone and won!

I've won a car and house clean through a local magazine
I've been a bit slack on the old housework front since lockdown (actually, who am I kidding, since 2010 when DS1 was born). What are they likely to do, hoover and dust, or deep clean with windows and oven etc? (hope so!).
Am now bricking claiming the prize as both are in such a state. Do I now spend a week panicking and cleaning the shit tip that is my house and midden that is the car, or do I brazen it out and let them crack on and see how they get on? Why, Oh why couldn't it have been a holiday?

@HoldontoOneMoreDay intending to do one heck of a tidy and sort from next week! Can't move for stuff that has migrated downstairs during lockdown! MIght also use this as a leverage opportunity for some odd DIY tasks that DH has been putting off!
@lanbro I'm not sure you will have. It's full of sand, sausage roll crumbs, mud and the sills are growing vegetation...
Have you been driving my car? Grin

They might send a couple of hunky men wearing little pinnies, and you can enjoy watching the big clean up. Or they might send people wearing those Crime Scenes clothing, then you know how bad things are ha ha,

TheOriginalMrsBagwell · 05/03/2021 15:21

@endlesswicker maybe? Does yours have coffee drips scattered around the interior and random toys from happy meals past trodden underfoot?

@1forAll74 hazmat suits might be the most appropriate, especially for the boys' bedrooms. I once ended up asleep in the bottom bunk when DS slept in with DH during a bout of illness. Kept half stirring and thinking there was a strange smell. Further investigation the next day revealed two apples cores, a banana skin and two putrid tangerines against the skirting board beneath the bed. I was rather delighted at how healthy the filth was though!

Oooh what a good prize! I’d love to win for someone to do a proper clean of my house. We’re trying to sell the house and it would be lovely for it to be done for me.

Anne1958 · 05/03/2021 15:28

I think you should have a real good clear out and tidy up before the house cleaners come in order to benefit from what they’ll do.

No one can clean properly on top of untidiness. You need cleared areas to do a good deep clean.

MamaMeAh · 05/03/2021 15:30

Congratulations, I'd have a tidy round but not clean. They'd probably like to compare the difference. Own it and enjoy it

I thought you'd won a car Grin

TheOriginalMrsBagwell · 05/03/2021 15:48

@user1494055864 So did my Mum when I told her during a dodgy reception mobile phone chat earlier! Cue great excitement and whooping...

Yeah, I thought you'd win a car & a house too 🤣 still they'll feel like new ones,once they've had a deep clean!!

Have you booked them in yet? Just wondering how long you e got to pick stuff up & find the surfaces!! 🤣

TheOriginalMrsBagwell · 05/03/2021 15:56

@WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants, not yet. The magazine emailed me to inform me and tell me to contact the two companies involved to book. However, I've recycled the edition with the details in (can't be that much of a slattern can I?!), So I'm waiting for the editor to get back to me with the details. Think I'll try and arrange it for about a fortnights time, then eave it til the day before, sounds like a plan?!

I, too, read the first line and thought you’d won:
 1. A car
 2. A house cleaning
And I was thinking, “That’s a bit of a strange prize combination, but a car! Hooray!” Then realized what you actually meant, ha. It’s still a lovely prize!
RB68 · 09/03/2021 11:44

I am thoroughly enjoying myself today for the first time in a year both DH and DD out of the house and its sunny

MorePotatoSalad · 09/03/2021 11:56

I read that as you had won a car then thought op was underplaying the car! Congrats op, enjoy!

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 09/03/2021 15:07

@TheOriginalMrsBagwell

Yep. Sounds like a good plan. I'm querying your slattern status for sure though!🤣
