Dressing tables - What do you keep on yours?

I have the IKEA hemnes dressing table (see pic). At the moment mine has:
4 perfumes
Earring stand
GHD’s
Necklaces hanging from **both sides of mirror
Box in the middle of the 2 drawers (for hair brush, sprays, general tat etc.)

I need to declutter without leaving the dresser stark. I’m thinking of removing the perfumes and necklaces and have a small plant to add some more greenery (I already have small plants either side of the bed on the bedside table.

Perfume, photos, candle holder, make up bag, bottle of almond oil, salt lamp, essential oil diffuser

I just got one. I'm so excited I've wanted one forever. However tbh, I don't have anything on it except a small succulent. Everything else is in the drawer. However I'm still unpacking my house. I quite like it being empty on the top as it feels tidy as the room isn't huge. But if anything will go on it it'll be my perfume which is shock Marc Jacobs Daisy cause I like it.

I’ve not got one yet! But it’s on my budget planner for this year and I’m hoping I can get it in a month or two.

Mine will be very minimal - a slim black iron table. No drawers (there is a cabinet right next to where it will stand that holds all my style/beauty/fragrance things).

On it I plan to have the following:

A mirror (although this may go on the wall behind instead)
A black jewellery tree to display my favourite pieces
A marble tray for my perfumes
A coloured glass canister for trinkets, and one for my cotton wipes
A lamp

If there’s room I might add a plant or a vase

In normal times we go away to visit family a lot, so I keep my jewellery in a box that I can hide somewhere when we go away.

I have my perfumes on one side (in their boxes to keep the light away from them), and the stuff I use a lot (moisturiser, hair products, hairbrush, dry shampoo etc) on the other. Mirror in the middle.

At least that's how it's SUPPOSED to look. As it stands, there is also a drill, my wallet, packet of paracetamol, empty glass, a Tudor headdress, three books and a 'special ornament' made of kinetic sand by my 4yo on it. And one of my lipsticks that I found in her bedroom last night when I was putting her to bed.

I am not a naturally tidy person 🤷🏼‍♀️

I see space for shelves to the left of / above the table. You'd get loads more space then (to obviously put more stuff out!)

I love makeup but don't really do much these days.

@GreenHairThingy I did think of that but I really like everything in reach when I'm sat down
It does get tidied but then I grab stuff to swatch and.. mess

I’m still sorting mine really. It’s the IKEA Malm and plan is for two of the three drawer chests of drawers either side. Have one already but never got around to ordering the second and they are out of stock now. Annoyingly.

Have a lovely lamp and will have some nice wall lights above and a lovely mirror.

I have all my skin care stuff in a pale pink lacquer tray. Make up brushes in some acrylic containers. Make up is in the drawer. Hair dryer etc in drawer of the chest of drawers I do have.

I love sitting at it to do my skin care and or make up. When I find the box with photos it will also have a photo of my mum along with one of her Christian Dior lipsticks. She died about five years ago and I found the lipstick last time I stayed with my Dad. Might have been the last nice one she bought. She had dementia so hadn’t worn makeup for years before she died. But I blame her for my obsession! She loved skin care and make up and always wanted a nice dressing table area. Love mine and I think of her every time i use it.

My perfumes are on an old silver tray on a chest of drawers. Still have to sort out a jewellery solution.

I don’t do jewellery or make up, so it’s five teetering piles of books, and a thin layer of dust...!

A mirror, two photos, a couple of books, hairbrush, a small box that has work ID and library cards in. Some of those cards are out of date.

I keep all my skincare and makeup stuff in a cupboard in the bathroom and I don’t use perfume.
