Best day to have off work?

I’m on maternity leave and thinking about my return, a little earlier than anticipated, but I need to decide how many days I need to put my baby in nursery etc. I’m probably going to go back for four days so what do you reckon is the best day off? Monday due to bank holidays?

I’d never want Wednesday off as it means you’ve got that ‘Sunday feeling’ all day.

Personally I’d love Monday off as DH has Saturday. Sunday and Monday off in a row every six weeks so it would be easier to do something together - at least, it would when we can travel!

I’d go either Monday or Friday.

I have Mondays off. I usually end up with 2 days ‘extra’ holiday for the bank hols and love a 3 day weekend

I'd always go for Wednesday - then you only ever have max 2 days at a time of the nursery/work/etc stress.

I've gone for Mondays & Tuesdays off as in our nursery we'd still have to pay a full months even if there's closure due to BH so this way we can maximise childcare and avoid paying for days the nursery is shut.

I took Wednesdays partly so I only had to work 2 days at a time. Also, the work I did was very client facing - usually if a client rang on a Wednesday and was told I was back in tomorrow they were happy to wait. If I had taken Friday they probably wouldn't have been prepared to wait until Monday.

@BearEastie

Some companies do not let you turn the BH Monday into AL - they make you take it as BH and as your Weekly Day Off.

That's why it isn't great for some companies - and why the OP needs to check with her employer first about what arrangement there will be.

They surely can't make you take it as your day off and as a bank holiday. One is a paid day of leave, the other is an unpaid day of rest, it can't be both.

Definitely mondays due to bank holidays, you then get additional pro Rota bank holidays added to.your annual leave.
If you work part time and on a Monday you end up having to.give back some of your annual leave to cover the bank holidays ( assuming your work place is closed on bank holidays)
