Anybody else feel awful around ovulation?

exhausted, achey, headachey, completely confused and clumsy. Getting worse the older I get. I'm losing at least a day a month unable to function properly. Why does this happen! Just wondering if it's common and if there is anything I can do bar the pill? Which is all the doctor ever recommends.

I get horrible lower right sided abdo pain, the whole area is really tender and it can last for days. Plus bloating and generally feeling rotten. It can go on for a few days and is getting worse post-kids (in my mid 30s now)

This is (one of many) perimenopausal symptoms. Look up Dr Louise Newsome: she has a website with so much information and how to approach your GP regarding treatment. I've seen one of her colleagues privately for HRT but her main focus is information provision (for GPs as well as everyone else), as their training in this is generally so poor.

Yep! Mid 30s here and have suffered with hormonal migraines, bloating, heavy cramps since dd was born 8 years ago. Yet periods are less than this!

Last night I had to take myself off to bed at 9 i felt so awful.

Am planning on ttc later on in the year and don't even think I will need the sticks this time round!

MrDarcysMa · 28/02/2021 08:24

I haven't noticed but my best friend started getting this when she entered her peri menopause x

Icenii · 28/02/2021 08:26

Early 40s and yes. Worse last year or so. Ovulation pain I've had scans for. Flu like symptoms. Always a sore throat and feel like I have a temperature. Exhaustion. Grumpy. I take all the vitamins and St John's Wort.

I am never in the frame of mind to exercise, I slack off in everything! Then there's PMT just before my period!

Therearenomore · 28/02/2021 08:35

Yes! Cramps and bloating and just general discomfort and tenderness around the abdomen. I get nothing around my period any more except for a headache the day before.

I thought I'd be too young for peri menopause, I'm 38. I've just weaned DS2, I was hoping that might sort it out.

bluetongue · 28/02/2021 08:41

Anyone else getting worse ovulation bleeding as they get older? Mine often lasts for a couple of days. Bastard thing.

lubeybooby · 28/02/2021 08:51

also early 40's. I tried the progesterone only pill last year in an attempt to stop me ovulating and the whole nightmare but it didn't fully work, still got some of the symptoms - I've now given in and gone back on the depo jab as that's the thing that worked best for me in the past

I was only hesitant about depo because of the need to keep going back and get it done again (lazy arse) but it's worth it for the lack of nightmare ovulation

@MrsPerfect12 I think I suffer with pmdd I read about it and it ticks all the boxes. I get in such a drak place before my period and so angry I go from 0-100 for no reason. Can I ask if its helped?

MrsPerfect12 · 28/02/2021 10:19

@ilovetea14
I'm not sure which part you're asking if it's helped.
The fluoxetine has, Ive not had a problem with it. The vitamins I haven't tried, just what I've read helps but takes a while to build up in your system.

AIMummy · 28/02/2021 10:23

Yes but only since having covid. Antihistamine tablets work for me, I read somewhere it's meant to have an effect on oestrogen levels or something.

ilovetea14 · 28/02/2021 10:48

@MrsPerfect12 sorry yes I meant the fluoxetine. Thanks for replying, I'm glad it's helping you.

Rillington · 28/02/2021 11:24

I get clumsy. I'm usually a parallel parking ninja but I can't do it when I am due on. It's like I forget how to do it.

LePimpernelScarlette · 28/02/2021 11:49

I am mid 40s and very peri.i get horrible ovulation pain, shooting pains down my legs, in my stomach, headaches, general ill feeling. Lasts for a couple of days, but my cycle is so close together that by the time I am over that i then start feeling pmt-ish, I feel like I am constantly starting and getting over my period....,

niki26 · 28/02/2021 11:55

Yes! I feel rather sick a couple of days before as well - definitely got worse since having my second child 6 months ago.

Tryingtogetitright · 28/02/2021 12:54

Interesting, me too, especially the bloating, pain and low mood/rage around ovulation. Far worse than PMT. I'm 41 with two DC.

JimmyJabs · 28/02/2021 13:23

Yes, it lasts for a couple of days usually - horrendous bloating and indigestion which comes on at the slightest provocation, even just having a glass of water. And feeling like I have a cold coming on. And the clumsiness is definitely getting worse. I find I can barely type an intelligible sentence on my phone because I can't hit the right part of my touchscreen. And then there's the sudden surge in libido, which might be fun if I had a partner but because I live alone, it's merely inconvenient and distracting!

Sorry to jump on this thread so late, just hoping someone responds as I never get much luck with a new thread!

I'm almost 28 TTC #2 and have noticed this month I am extremely achey like when you have flu. According to my tracker I'm in the middle of the window where I'm likely to ovulate, had a clear positive on ov test yesterday and a fainter one today so assuming I'm at the peak!

It's almost like a trapped nerve but not so sharp? Kinda twinges all over my body, legs are a little achey obviously as TTC the pill isn't an option and generally don't feel run down except for the ache has anyone had it while TTC? I havent been feeling low as such but maybe a little lonely hubby working full time and has a second hustle as a hobby but I seem to be feeling more touch about the fact he's always so busy and even though I have DS to look after and my own little business I just can't seem to focus myself 🤷‍♀️ normally I get like it when due on but I'm still around 2 weeks away from that so idk 🤷‍♀️

workwoes123 · 31/03/2022 16:31

Yes ! Started when I was about 45, 49 now and it has got steadily worse. It’s far more unpleasant than actual pms or period pains.
