Hoovers, best, worst & how often do you replace?

Following on from a thread about sofas.
How often do you replace your hoover?
What would you recommend.
I’ve had a Sebo X4 for around 8 years & am thinking of replacing it. I did buy a Gtech to use upstairs when I had a bad shoulder as the Sebo is very heavy. But it was rubbish. I had to charge it twice to do the whole house.

I like a corded Hoover with a bag, so am thinking of another Sebo. They do a lovely pastel pink one.

This thread is a bit old now, so if you've landed here looking for recommendations, we have recently updated our guide to the best vacuum cleaners as tried and tested by the Mumsnet team. We hope you find it useful.

@Offredismysister my Grandma had a cloth bodied vacuum too. It was the noisiest thing in the world!

My student house had a cloth bodied hoover. Definitely noisy! (and crap. I ended up with an old Electrolux one from my parents)
