What’s your hobby?

My main hobby has always been unspecific socialising, have tried a few things in lockdown but nothing has stuck, I’m half being nosey half looking for inspiration.

Do you run, knit, bell ring, fund raise?

Do you truly love it or is there another motivation?

Alone or (previously) part of a group?

Curious as to what other people are doing? The more niche the better!

Is it cycling?
WannabeOT · 15/02/2021 17:12

Yoga. In normal times I would go to one class a week and the rest at home, now obviously just at home. Normal times also gym.

Gardening in summer. This is only our second year with our own garden so a novice but it gets us outside and DD can join in.

I'd like a new hobby that I can do in front of the TV in the evening, but I hate crafts and don't have the patience to learn to knit or anything like that. I can't even sew.

@RubyFakeLips a surfski is a very long, narrow kayak that you paddle on the sea. Can go quite fast but quite unstable as you sit on top of it rather than in it. Hoping my amble butt will at least act as ballast 🤣

MorriseysGladioli · 16/02/2021 01:45

Eating crisps.

Coffeeand · 16/02/2021 01:53

Skiing most weeks in winter, mountain biking, hiking, and I play the guitar.

HankMarvinjg · 16/02/2021 06:29

Eating in general, is another great hobby of mine.

Ikora · 16/02/2021 09:10

When younger
Goju ryu karate
Hockey
Running
Gaming
Ballet
Sewing
Choir

I have an issue with my back so running replaced by brisk walks and no more contact sports or ballet. I still do everything else though choir has been suspended. In addition DH and I usually do ballroom dancing. I have also taken some short course such as watercolours and I took pottery classes for two years.

Fascinationends · 16/02/2021 09:20

Ballet and tap.
I had started yoga a few months before lockdown and am looking forward to restarting that, I cannot do it at home properly.

Bangable · 16/02/2021 09:33

Most of my interests are outdoorsy - hiking, mountaineering, photography, horse riding, fitness (heavy weights, HIIT and running), mountain biking, kayaking.

I practice yoga on a daily basis and I'm learning to play the violin. It's a slow process!

Holidays revolve as much as possible around a huge passion for snowboarding

Would love to get into something artsy, thinking about painting by numbers...not sure I have the patience!

pictish · 16/02/2021 09:35

Trail running, hillwalking, off road biking. I’m outdoors bod. Like to be active and keep fit.

I’m quite arty but never seem to find the inner peace to be creative. I’d love to paint or write. I think it would be good for me. I’m working on it.

morninglive · 16/02/2021 09:46

Ice skate
Digital and watercolour painting
Sew occasionally
Photoshopping

IEat · 16/02/2021 09:47

Cross stitch and embroidery when I can be bothered to thread the needle and follow the pattern

caringcarer · 16/02/2021 09:51

I like interior design and doing up my btl's as well as our own house and holiday home. It keeps me busy. I also read and crochet and cook, watch box sets and before Covid lunch with my sisters and holiday.

caringcarer · 16/02/2021 09:52

Also watch child play cricket, which can go on for hours so picnic while watching.

FearlessSwiftie · 16/02/2021 10:21

Cooking, creative writing, photography and scrapbooking. Sometimes I get tired of doing one and the same thing for a long time and then I have to switch to something else, but I always come back to these activities. the only thing that have changed through the years is that I used to write in my note books but now I have a blog; and now I do digital scrapbooks in Smartshow 3d along with my ordinary handmade one.

itsalwayssunnyhere · 16/02/2021 10:23

Biking and running

ritzbiscuits · 16/02/2021 12:36

Ballet, yoga, crochet, reading

Spidey66 · 16/02/2021 12:39

Adult colouring books, reading, walking the dog.
I used to like going to the gym but that fell by the wayside with covid and I suspect will be difficult for me to get back into.

Aebj · 16/02/2021 12:48

I like going to the gym ( I’m not very fit , my aim is to keep moving and to meet people)
I’ve had a couple of art classes which I really enjoyed last year and want to do more ( Covid and work have got in the way)
I like reading, currently reading Lee Child . Jack Reacher sounds like the kind of person I would like to hook up with at least once🤣😂

CuteOrangeElephant · 16/02/2021 12:50

Sewing and Lego.

I used to do a ballet class once a week but then Covid happened and I moved :( . I'm not very graceful at all but loved the lessons. It's a proper workout too.

I do Just Dance a lot from home but it's not the same.

hennipenni · 16/02/2021 12:59

Training and competing in agility with my dog- sadly taken a backseat at the moment.
Walking
Reading

BiddyPop · 16/02/2021 12:59

My main hobby, as in what I spend leisure (i.e. non-work) time doing just now, is being a Cub Scout Leader.

I like various haberdashery type crafts - sewing, cross-stitching, knitting. I just don't have time to do them these days. (I also like to make cards but have even less time for that).

I do like to cook and bake, for fun as much as necessity - but it is the basics at the moment.

I am learning how to sail when time has allowed over the past 3-4 years or so. I've done various theory parts (couple of courses, lots of reading and YouTube tutorials), and some out in actual boats. We had actually planned to go on a family holiday involving a theory course followed by a week afloat last summer....cancelled of course. I can now handle a powerboat (rib) and the basics of a small dinghy, or handle the sheets (ropes) for the forward sail (gib) of a larger boat - but I'm not confident to do the tiller (steering) or mainsheet (rope of the main sail) yet. But I'm happy to learn slowly as time (and weather) allow.

And while I had to give up the allotment I had for 5 years when life got too busy 7 years ago, I still grow some veggies in the garden which I consider a hobby.

I like walking - decent walking up the mountains. And camping. But life is too busy (I manage some of this with Cubs still).

And I like swimming, canoeing and otherwise paddling about in small boats, attempting to surf, ….generally just mucking about in water. When it's not freezing!

I like reading, but that is very much when I have spare quiet time, so the pile of books to read is tottering badly nowadays....
