Eurgh
I’m.just.so.tired

Ds 9 months hasn’t slept more than 90 mins at a time in 7 months. Last night he woke 13 times between 8pm-5.30am..

I’m actually so tired I feel like am going to pass out virtually every day.

I think I maybe got 3hrs total again last night, broken up into a million 20 min slots.

Why won’t he sleep?

Pre Answers:

  1. yes he settles himself to sleep at bedtime.
  2. no he isn’t fed to sleep at bedtime or naps
  3. he naps x2 per day. Each nap 45min bad day, 90mins good.
  4. yes dh is also up during the night with him.
  5. he eats loads

@NameChange30 - yes 2 naps usually. I am trying to still work atm ( no nursery here- Covid), so most trips out each morning are related to that, so unfortunately he’s in car or pram whether he’s asleep or not. But afternoon ones are more flexible.

I really feel for you as my DS was shocking as well. I used to wish new parents to have a baby that sleeps. My DS was like yours, constantly napping through the night but he never napped in the day. I used to give him a milky weetabix last thing because he often woke hungry and sometimes that worked. He also slept better in a sleeping bag thing. I tried sleep training and it was horrific hearing him so upset. That only worked for a short period of time.

What finally worked was at 3 (I know) he stopped wearing nappies and having milk in the night.

Thank you

Last night, was slightly better actually. I decided to try and not feed within 4hrs.

Anyway, bed at 8pm and straight to sleep. He didn’t really feed beforehand as tired and full from dinner.
Woke 10.30pm and seemed unsettled, so I broke my 4hr rule already! And fed him.
Woke 1am - resettled in cot without feed
Woke 2.30am - I fed him
Woke 4.30-5.30 - resettled him on and off in cot, he would doze 10 mins and then rewake
5.30am - brought him into bed with us and he slept until 7.45am

So still woke on and off, but only fed twice. And then at least actually fell back to sleep in our bed instead of starting the day at 5am
