Two men went into a restaurant. They both ordered the same dish from the menu. After they tasted it, one of the men went outside the restaurant and shot himself. Why?

I'll put the answer below incase you want to guess. But I can't see how the hell you could ever reach this conclusion Confused

@Parkandride Memorable as about the only interesting thing that's ever happened on a team-building day. Grin

LApprentiSorcier · 04/02/2021 20:24

Well done JesusInTheCabbageVan!

Ch3rish · 04/02/2021 20:25

Another one who remembers these from childhood, many happy hours figuring out the man in the lift pressing buttons, wierd deaths and bizarre riddles.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 04/02/2021 20:28

Thank you!

I'm troubled by what arseholes the men are in @Parkandride's version, though.

"But we're not starving any more, there's no need!"
"Nope. We had a pact."
"But I'm a doctor! I need both arms to perform life saving operat-"
"Lalalala not listening. PACT."

TyneTeas · 04/02/2021 20:28

Albatross and arm in the post have been around since at least the 80s Grin

Sparklfairy · 04/02/2021 20:30

This is the weirdest thread ever! Grin

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 04/02/2021 20:30

Where I was, it was all mad axeman stories in the 80s. The woman whose dog licked her hand in the night, the one with the banging on the car roof, the hook in the door handle....

HappyTimeTunnelDinosaur · 04/02/2021 20:32

I loved these when I was a teen, we also had:

A man is lying dead in a telephone box, the receiver is hanging down and someone is talking at the other end. There is an empty bucket outside the phone box, but no one else is around. How did he die?

Clue please! Does he have any visible injury?
HappyTimeTunnelDinosaur · 04/02/2021 21:04

Hmm that would give it away, the bucket used to contain worms though.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 04/02/2021 21:07

Oho, I know Grin There's some broken glass involved.

Parkandride · 04/02/2021 21:07

Something about fishing bait!?

OP posts:
HappyTimeTunnelDinosaur · 04/02/2021 21:10

Yes there is some broken glass and the worms were used as fishing bait.

LOTM · 04/02/2021 21:47

Or how about variations on:

Romeo, Juliet and Othello lived in a house by a railway track. Othello returned from work to find Romeo and Juliet dead on the floor in a pool of water surrounded by broken glass, yet Othello didn't call the police.

Why not?

burblish · 04/02/2021 21:50

@LOTM - Romeo and Othello were goldfish - the vibrations from the railway track caused their bowl to fall off the table and smash on the floor.

LOTM · 04/02/2021 21:50

@burblish - gold star!

burblish · 04/02/2021 21:51

@LOTM - I mean Romeo and Juliet were goldfish, not Othello. Although, if Othello was a goldfish, that would explain why he couldn’t ring the police Grin

LOTM · 04/02/2021 21:51

.. although Romeo and Juliet were the goldfish ;)

I knew what you meant though!

LOTM · 04/02/2021 21:52

... and I wonder what job Othello had been to ;)

User2378901 · 04/02/2021 21:57

Oh god why did you have to remind me of the Boswell thing. Did it ever get resolved?!

greenlynx · 04/02/2021 21:58

These puzzles are so weird. I would rather go for a quiz from Quizlet...

Parkandride · 04/02/2021 21:59

@HappyTimeTunnelDinosaur

Yes there is some broken glass and the worms were used as fishing bait.
This rings a distant bell now, is it something like: man is on the phone describing his days fishing, proclaims "it was this big!" Spreading his arms wide and smashing the glass in the phone booth. Bleeds to death...
