The Girl Next Door
Couldn't stop thinking about it 😔

ssd · 01/02/2021 19:54

Notes on a scandal.

RickiTarr · 01/02/2021 19:55

The Killing Fields
Sarah’s Key (not for the faint hearted)

WhatWouldPhyllisCraneDo · 01/02/2021 19:56

Agree with We need to talk about Kevin and The Hand that rocks the cradle.

Also Schindlers List and The Pianist. Actually most Holocaust films. But those 2 in particular.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 01/02/2021 19:56

Lilya 4-Ever.

The bleakest film I've seen.

IHaveBrilloHair · 01/02/2021 19:58

Requiem for a dream.

Santaiscovidfree · 01/02/2021 19:58

Green Mile.

IHaveBrilloHair · 01/02/2021 19:59

Holding the man.
The death scene in that is awful.

BobGalaxy · 01/02/2021 19:59
  1. So immersive.
Blacktothepink · 01/02/2021 19:59

The Pianist
The lovely bones

MattyWilbur · 01/02/2021 20:00

Oh god, I forgot about The Seasoning House.

Thanks guys, I'll try all of these. I love a really intense film.

Detroit. It haunted me for weeks after watching it.

SimonJT · 01/02/2021 20:03

Holding the man.

The fox and the hound.

Lion

PeterRabbitt · 01/02/2021 20:04

Goodnight Mr Tom

I'm dreading this book/film ever being part of my kids school syllabus 😟

Stretchandsnap · 01/02/2021 20:05

Nil by mouth
Event horizon
Both traumatised me in different ways

BabloHoney · 01/02/2021 20:05

Tyrannosaur. Brilliant but so bleak.

Also, I think it was a made for tv film rather then a full on movie, but a program called No Child of Mine. Brooke Kinsella played the lead, probably 25 years or so since I watched it and certain scenes still haunt my nightmares today.

bluet1t · 01/02/2021 20:08

The Descent (UK ending not US)
Midsommar and Hereditary (same director who aims to make films that "stay with you")

ISpeakJive · 01/02/2021 20:09

Sleepers.
Watched it once. Never again.

BonnesVacances · 01/02/2021 20:09

Life is Beautiful (La Vita è Bella) made me sob for days and days. Sad

catmandont · 01/02/2021 20:10

The Butterly Effect. What happened to the kids, which differed in each reality, but all grim. Stayed with me for a long time.

Palavah · 01/02/2021 20:10

Waterland(s?)
Jude

Hushabyelullaby · 01/02/2021 20:11

Scum
Schindler's List

MattyWilbur · 01/02/2021 20:12

@SimonJT

Holding the man.

The fox and the hound.

Lion

Oh GOD the fox and the hound.

I recall as a child thinking these films are not suitable for children. Grin

Same with All dogs go to heaven.

I've just realised that I'm far more scarred by kids films, not even just old ones. Up! freaked me out.

I love both Midsommar and Hereditary but fuck, they do indeed stay with you.
