Remona

A Star Is Born (the recent version). It just upset me so much. The sadness of the ending. I couldn’t get it out of my head for days.“

Not seen it but the James Mason/Judy Garland film is gut-wrenching.

Snorkelface · 01/02/2021 23:19

Kes

I can't even look at the original poster image.

Hushabyelullaby · 01/02/2021 23:21

I don't know why I was thinking of films that have stayed with me in a negative way, so in addition to my last post I would also say

It's a Wonderful Life
The Green Mile
Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop cafe

Remona · 01/02/2021 23:21

Hachi: A dog’s tale.

I sobbed and sobbed and sobbed. I couldn’t watch it again.

Hushabyelullaby · 01/02/2021 23:24

Dead Poets
I, Daniel Blake
Platoon

Every time I see other posts I find something else mentioned I agree with

Seriously79 · 01/02/2021 23:27

Hacksaw Ridge

Hacksaw Ridge

Yes, forgot that. And Unbroken

.

ODFOx · 01/02/2021 23:28

The kerb scene in American History X.

They cut it from later releases but it was a terrible and terribly powerful scene of hatred and dehumanisation.

converseandjeans · 01/02/2021 23:37

The Pianist
Schindlers List
12 Years a Slave
Amelie
Goodbye Lenin
Breakfast Club
Mississippi Burning

Ilovemypantry · 01/02/2021 23:41

An old one but I absolutely love it....The Great Gatsby with Robert Redford and Mia Farrow. Wonderful and moving insight into the Roaring Twenties.

Crikeycroc · 01/02/2021 23:44

Thirteen (2003)
Changeling (2008)
Pieces of a Woman (2020) - currently on Netflix if you’re after something to watch

Throughhistory · 01/02/2021 23:47

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

xxlostxx · 01/02/2021 23:48

Oh yes, The Wicker Man, the original with Edward Woodward. I so wanted a happier ending that I even bought and read the book afterwards!

lemonsaretheonlyfruit · 01/02/2021 23:57

Me too, and the book both really got me And shallow grave😲 Other than that I'm struggling to think of any😶
IHaveBrilloHair · 02/02/2021 00:21

I also sobbed at Never let me go both the film and book.

IHaveBrilloHair · 02/02/2021 00:24

I have a cat named Matilda, from the character in Leon.

SueGeneris · 02/02/2021 00:27

Interstellar

Again, so much more than a sci fi film - brilliant, intense, and the music is wonderful.

Highly recommend if you like an intense story that is also beautiful and compelling and so moving for reasons I can’t explain without spoiling the film.

LeaveHomeNow · 02/02/2021 00:32

Manchester by Sea. I had to stop the movie, I couldn't bear it.

VienneseWhirligig · 02/02/2021 00:33

An Education
Philomena
The Fault In Our Stars

MissEverdene · 02/02/2021 00:50

My Girl

I saw this way too young and I was fucking traumatized.

Bloodypunkrockers · 02/02/2021 00:58

I can't even remember the name but it was about a girl literally snatched off the streets and forced Into prostitution

She was trafficked to Ireland and it was so awful

Based on a true story too

babyinthacorner · 02/02/2021 01:02

Interstellar. I had no idea what it was about and it BROKE me.

Thisisworsethananticpated · 02/02/2021 01:35

I tend to avoid really harrowing films
But Lilya 4 Ever
Parasite was also a bit of a shocker
