What’s Everyone Doing For Valentines Day?

We’re paring it right back this year as only have one income coming in. DH isn’t a big fan anyway as he thinks it’s basically a big money-making scheme. Having said that, I always get 2 dozen red roses & sometimes chocolates as well. I picked up a “ Couples Quiz” at Tesco’s for £2 & we already have steaks in the freezer so DH will cook them with chips, peas & breaded garlic mushrooms. We’ll exchange cards but no presents.

Oh god here come the miseries who don’t like anything fun related. If you’re not interested in Valentine’s Day why comment
Because OP asked. Just because someone doesn't do Valentine's Day it doesn't mean they're a misery.

Aw my fiance loves valentine's Day, he's definitely the romantic one out of the two of us.

We've ordered a meal delivery from a local restaurant (who claimed Mac and cheese was anti valentine's food, but it's my favourite 😂).

We'll get some nice chocolates and probably have a wee movie night.

We do presents, because why not. I've got him some new gloves, new slippers and a book. So nothing outrageous. I'm also planning on getting him some nice chocolates.

He's working away for an extended period of time, so I expect we will both send cards by post, and do a facetime call on the evening to have a brew "together". Not the most romantic I suppose, but we'll catch up when he's home and lockdown eases. We've been together ten years, and he's shown me every day that I'm loved, so it's not that important in the big picture.

I am working an overtime shift. Double pay Sundays!! Anyway, we haven't ever done anything apart from our 1st year together, but guess we felt we had too. Last year we happened to be on a weekend away but that was only cause the in-laws took the kids away that weekend. If we want a nice night out or buy each other something we just do it regardless of the day!

hellolittlebaby · 01/02/2021 15:13

We've never bothered doing anything in 12 years. Maybe the odd meal out back in the day. Nowadays we have a takeaway when the DC is in bed. That's what we shall do this year too. I'll be moonpigging a photo card too!

Lovelydiscusfish · 01/02/2021 15:17

Don’t know - it will be our first one together so I don’t actually know whether it’s something he observes, and don’t really know how to go about asking - I don’t want it to sound like I am demanding gifts or something ! I have bought him a card, but mainly because I just saw it and found it funny.

Stompythedinosaur · 01/02/2021 15:18

I got dp a small gift (a case for his mandolin picks) and we'll probably watch a film together once the kids are in bed.

I work every Sunday so I'll be working Valentines Day. DH usually cooks then, so that's what he'll be doing - I've got salmon and a bottle of wine in mind which knowing him he'll be happy with

We normally give eachother a card and present, but have been totally avoiding the supermarket and other shops as cases are the highest they've been in our area. I can get something for DH on the click and collect order, but a card might be tricky. I suspect he might sneak into the local greengrocers and get me some flowers.

Like all the other valentines-bugger all.

Rather get a bunch of flowers any other day to show love, not marked up stuff for a certain date on the calendar.

Its teen stuff.

Me and DP do a big meal and a few drinks every Sunday so probably that

Nicolastuffedone · 01/02/2021 18:14

We’ll have a nice meal, exchange cards and a small gift.....married for 30 years, always celebrated Valentine’s Day! Thank goodness it isn’t just ‘teen stuff’ here! ❤️

SimonJT · 01/02/2021 19:29

Last year I spent it in hospital with my son, lets not repeat that!

We’re doing it on Saturday as my son is staying at my friends for the night. I’ve bought my partner some posh red wine, a top he’ll like and I’ve crocheted a ‘card’. We’ve ordered a posh lunch, I have covid so I’m hoping my sense of taste is back by then.

I have no idea what he’s got for me.
