Any one else’s school doing lateral flow testing for teachers?

I’ve just had an email of the school saying the teachers are testing twice a week. Is this being rolled out across the board?

yes - started this week
to be done twice a week

daisychains8 · 27/01/2021 21:03

Yes, twice a week. Although I'm told we can opt out if we want to.

Yes, pick up my kit tomorrow. Twice weekly.

@Nix32 we are a secondary school and are still doing them.

Serena1977 · 27/01/2021 21:35

Yes my children's school is doing them. Though they are neither use nor ornament given the poor accuracy rate.

smallandimperfectlyformed · 27/01/2021 21:35

I got an email yesterday or the day before from my daughters primary school (in London) saying that they were doing this and reminding us that we have 5 places within the borough where we can choose to get tested without symptoms.

NotExactlyMrsCurrentAffairs · 27/01/2021 22:08

We're doing them too.
Does anyone know what the change was to the instruction booklet? We were told to open the boxes, discard the booklets (I left mine at school to be recycled) and take the amended one home. A colleague took both sets home and was laughing about the original ones but wouldn't tell us why and now I have no way of knowing, wish I'd have kept mine now, I'd love to know what it said Grin

We start next week. I'm not sure if it's worth the bother given the flaky accuracy. But 🤷‍♀️

daisybrown37 · 27/01/2021 22:23

We are doing them (Secondary School).

Yes they are not the most reliable, but if we catch one asymptomatic case then, it one more than with out them. Day one we picked up a positive case, none since then luckily.

Bumpinthenight · 27/01/2021 22:45

Yes, twice a week. All of our staff are in (except the ECV staff) at some point in the week and the ones I have spoken to are all doing it.

It's a DFE initiative.

@NotExactlyMrsCurrentAffairs I have mine upstairs I think. I will go and have a look and let you know.

So it looks like they have changed the word void from invalid. Also there was a big red section on p13 that said DO NOT READ YOUR TEST RESULT AFTER 30 MINUTES.
And there is lots of extra info about how to report.
