How long do your pans last? I need to buy some new ones and got some tefal ones last time and they lasted about 7 years. Is this a long time for a pan? Should I look elsewhere?

@jimjamjoo

This is really useful. Thanks. All those recommending against buying a non stick pan, how do you cook without the non sticky ness?!
Mine are non stick

Bought 11 years ago as a stop gap ... still going strong. Can't remember where from, but probably Tesco.

Oh and they don't get any pandering to!

I have really invested - had Le Creuset non-stick which were brilliant until ex P made of with them (grrr...). The non - stick was rock solid on those.I do prefer non-stick to stainless steel TBH.

I have had to buy replacements post split and have invested in a non-stick brand called Analon - they have a copper layer between stainless steel layers on the pan base. I have found them amazing on my (crappy) ceramic electric hob.

I was using a cheap Morrisons supermarket pan and things burning onto hot spots was a real problem. The Analon pans - nothing has burnt on the bottom, they distribute the heat so evenly even on my crappy hob. Plus the non - stick is awesome, I am really impressed.

They are not cheap though ... I regard them as a lifetime investment and expect to be using them until I pop my clogs.

I was given a stainless steel pan by my friend's mum when she had her kitchen re-fitted. I took it to uni and have had it ever since. So that makes it 37+ years old.
Have no idea how long she had it before then.

Cheers! Have just got some JL stainless steel pans on your recommendations ( had a voucher too!). Good old mumsnet never lets me down :)
