Mint tea

Can anyone recommend a brand of mint tea that actually tastes of mint please? Have tried Tetleys and Lidls own so far but they're just like drinking coloured hot water.

I had a mint plant on the windowsill getting more and more leggy. Chucked a few leaves in hot water and bingo, mint tea!

Another vote for using fresh mint, it's so much nicer. It's probably cheaper than buying teabags and definitely better for the environment.

Pukka mint tea is no1
Twinnings Peppermint Tea no2
Supermarket version no3
We go through loads of peppermint tea here! Pukka is definitely the best.

Pukka three mint! Not super pricey like tea pigs but much better than supermarkets own brand

TallTowerFan · 17/01/2021 14:25

Morrison's or Asda own brand ones. About 99p for 20 tea bags. I've tried the expensive ones and they're not as nice.

Yet another vote for fresh mint leaves. The damn stuff is a thug, and invades my entire herb plot, so I take great pleasure in ripping out handfuls of leaves for tea, flavouring pea soup, putting in dhansaks, etc.
You could certainly keep some alive over the winter in a pot in a warm kitchen. The bloody stuff is indestructible!

mrsfeatherbottom · 17/01/2021 14:41

Teapigs is nice as a treat but I use Sainsbury's own brand usually. Twinnings do a Butternint one that tastes like Murray mints - it's nice too.

MaryBoBary · 17/01/2021 14:46

I second the aldi own brand peppermint tea bags

orangenasturtium · 17/01/2021 16:08

It's probably too late for your poor herb plot @Babdoc but, for anyone else inspired to grow mint by this thread, always plant mint in a pot, it's a thug!

Babdoc · 17/01/2021 16:56

orangenasturtium, I did start off with mint in a terracotta pot in a neglected corner of my herb garden. The bastard split the pot in half with its powerful roots then set off on its mission of world domination! Grin

Clipper Fairtrade organic - virtuous and tasty

Deathraystare · 17/01/2021 18:40

Take out a second mortgage if you want Teapigs!

z4zie · 17/01/2021 18:49

Fresh mint tea is the best!!! Boiling hot water plus a bunch of fresh mint leaves.

Aworldofmyown · 17/01/2021 18:52

Definitely tea pigs!

LilQueenie · 17/01/2021 19:01

Buy sprigs of mint from the supermarket and brew it straight from the leaves. you could also try growing mint plants on a windowsill.

Aurorie11 · 17/01/2021 19:08

Another vote for Teapigs

Tardigrade001 · 17/01/2021 19:18

Pukka is nice. The fancy Aldi one is the mintiest mint tea ever!
Fresh mint leaves are probably the healthiest option though.
