Just that really. I've enjoyed Line of Duty, The Fall and The Bridge recently.

I'm also quite partial to fantasy - I loved Game of Thrones.

Not too keen on twee things.

Thanks!

Oh, good shout Torvean! The Last Kingdom is fab.

I am trying to find a replacement for GoT but nothing is quite as good.

I've heard the Last Kingdom is similar though?

The Wire.

tinselearedcow · 15/01/2021 10:46

Sorry, not a GoT replacement!

yammymammy69 · 15/01/2021 10:49

Vikings on Amazon prime such an amazing series had me hooked for ages well worth a watch I promise you'll love it

OkPedro · 15/01/2021 10:53

I’m watching unbelievable on Netflix.

I finished the walking dead recently. so disappointed I enjoyed the first 6 seasons though!

Afterlife
Breaking bad
Dead to me

Starisnotanumber · 15/01/2021 10:56

Dark on Netflix subtitled German time travel series with crime in each time zone which interacts.

Tazers · 15/01/2021 11:48

The Wire is excellent, right up my street! As is Afterlife and Breaking Bad.

An oldie but a goodie is the Sopranos.

I also quite liked Harlots. Bit trashy but fun!

Thanks to the person who recommended it below.

Thanks to the person who recommended the Crown too. Sadly I've already binge watched S4. I don't think I've ever done as much binge watching as I have in the last 10 months.

The Queen's Gambit is also excellent, don't think it's been mentioned yet.

Line of Duty series 6 is out shortly too.

The man in the high castle
Outlander

Mediumred · 15/01/2021 12:06

Get Shorty, the series, on Now Tv, it’s a bit like a slightly more light-hearted Sopranos or Breaking Bad (if that doesn’t sound too weird!). Umm, not fantasy or crime drama but Cobra Kai on Netflix is lots of fun. Stranger Things has a sci-fi slant.

JamieFrasersSassenach · 15/01/2021 12:06

Most definitely Outlander on Prime!

5 seasons so will keep you busy for a while!

The last kingdom is excellent. It's not exactly GOT. Its about a boy brought up in Saxon England who gets taken by Danish Vikings after a battle. The series follows his life and the feuds between King Alfred and Wessex vs various Viking groups. It's fantastic. There's no dragons or magical creatures like GOT.

Personally i think it's better than GOT or Vikings.
I'm now an addict reading the books til season 5 is out.

Just finishing Bloodline season one - really good

Thank you for the recommendations for the Bureau. I watched it after reading this thread and oh my, it was brilliant! Up there with Spiral and the Wire in great TV. Absolutely brilliant TV - thanks Mumsnet!

Hels20 · 11/02/2021 19:48

Unbelievable on Netflix - with the great Toni Collette. Based on a real life case. Amazing performances all round. Found episode 1 difficult to get through but then became totally absorbed.

Second a PP with Unforgotten.

Happy Valley captured my interest v early on.

Queen’s Gambit (Netflix).

They are my 3!!
