Sonic Boom?

Did anyone else in Essex or possibly further out hear a massive bang about 20 minutes ago?

All my neighbours ran out in the street and someone I know who lives about 40 miles away heard it too

Yes heard in Chelmsford and Brentwood. It actually rattled my windows!

Heard in Bromley too.

Yes we are in Cambridgeshire and all the houses in our street shook and we heard a loud plane noise and a sound like an explosion. Was quite relieved to find it was a sonic boom. DD thought a police helicopter had crashed into our thatched roof and then I heard bits falling off but could only see a spider. Neighbours were outside inspecting their roof.

My dd’s boyfriend was at Stansted airport and said there were loads of police and fire engines at the hijack compound area.

A German plane apparently wasn't communicating and they had to send some big old scary fighter jets to fly with it to Stansted. DH heard it and came downstairs but I didn't hear a thing.

Mid Essex here and nope, clearly too engrossed in my work!

I felt the house shake, once. Ignored it as the builders over the road have been digging a basement and the house often shakes, when it isn't vibrating from what ever they are doing.

*did anyone hear a large bang this afternoon in Chelmsford 2 x Euro fighter Typhoons jets that broke the sound barrier above Chelmsford racing to intercept a German registered aircraft that was not communicating*

I don't think I heard anything (Cambs) but maybe I did and didn't realise what it was? Bugger, feel like I've missed out, I love anything to do with very fast planes.

We are in Cambs and you couldn't not hear it here - it sound like a plane crashing into roof or a bomb exploding and all the houses shook for a minute or so. Some of our thatched roof fell down but luckily only very small bits.
