Is anyone awake?

Just to say hello?

My toddler is a full.blown whirlwind of demands
My mother is in hospital for mental health issues
I thought my 3 month old was beginning to settle but her silent reflux has come back with a vengeance over the last couple of days. The medication makes her so windy but she has got bad again so I'm going to have to give it to her.

I'm so tired and stressed and defeated.

@WildIrishRose1 something comforting about watching older stuff- we have started rewatching the Vicar of Dibley.

You are not a failure OP. Reflux is really common. It's pretty ridiculous that they haven't found something that actually works well for babies yet. Maybe give the gaviscone a try again? Or could you do a mixture, is that allowed? Both mine suffered with terrible colic and reflux but doctors are pretty useless at helping with the problem. Actually looking back I think they might have had cmpa, with this pregnancy I can't really eat or drink dairy so might have been the same with them, just can't remember.
Due in 3 weeks and absolutely terrified. It's pathetic. I've done this twice before but it's consumed my whole pregnancy this time and keeps me up at night a lot.

I'm.sorry @louisejxxx its utterly shit I know. The vast majority of my family.has yet to meet my DD. Its crap.

We’ve just finished watching Killing Eve. I liked the fact that most of the characters were women. Good ending too.

Lockdown #many is probably partly responsible for my wake up too.

Frownette · 05/01/2021 05:42

@OhToBeASeahorse

We managed to take toddler to see FC just before Christmas which was great. Other than that it has been the park basically every day!
Have you got a nice park locally?

I don't, I was warned against going to it as apparently it is full of cider swilling people. But I went to take a look and seems ok, just not very interesting. There's a gorgeous one in the centre full of different plants and flowers and ancient stone.

OhToBeASeahorse · 05/01/2021 05:43

@Iminaglasscaseofemotion I dont knowing I can do a combo - I'll phone the GP again today.

I'm sorry you are so worried about it. Do you have a birth plan at all?

OP posts:
OhToBeASeahorse · 05/01/2021 05:45

@Frownette ours is ok, just not very interesting. Still, at least there is a swing for DS!

truthlemon · 05/01/2021 05:45

Morning! Sorry to hear so many are being kept awake by worries. I've been up a since 2:30am. DD has an operation today and we need to be at the hospital by 7, so I'm on edge.

Agreed the wee small hours with a colicky/refluxy baby are no fun Flowers

Frownette · 05/01/2021 05:47

There aren't even any swings in ours!! Just as well otherwise I'd be on them.

At least DS has one :)

OhToBeASeahorse · 05/01/2021 05:48

@truthlemon how worrying for you. I hope its nothing serious and she recovers quickly.

No no fun at all.and just feel I'm failing her completely because I cant seem to decide. The reflux symptoms have been obvious tonight but in the daytime she is ok. Last time we tried meds she hated them.so much I just felt horrendously guilty.

Awake too. Pregnancy insomnia. Then a toddler who decided 1-4 was party time, and now I still can't sleep. Came downstairs to escape DHs snoring / farting before I murdered him with a pillow.

Sorry to hear about your mum OP, and your refluxy DC.

Vicar of Dibley is a great antidote to all the meh.

I'm going to see if I can find Johnathon Creek anywhere- I used to love that one.

WildIrishRose1 · 05/01/2021 05:49

@truthlemon best of luck today. 💐

Velvian · 05/01/2021 05:50

Morning, I've been awake for a while, feeling ill (not Covid), Things always seem worse before morning. Fingers crossed the daylight reduces all of our problems into more manageable parcels.

This too shall pass - is what I'm telling myself at the moment.

MinnieMountain · 05/01/2021 05:52

We’re lucky to have a big man-made park within cycling distance. It was flooded over Christmas but ok now. I suspect we’ll be there a lot with 7yo DS.

I hope your daughter’s operation goes well @truthlemon.

faithfulbird20 · 05/01/2021 05:52

I hope we all feel better this afternoon after some sleep.

I'm pregnant and my 3 year old woke me up and is playing games...are all the toddlers awake today???

I'd recommend watching the serpent on bbc iPlayer...it's interesting...

truthlemon · 05/01/2021 05:52

Oh gosh, yes, Jonathan Creek - loved it!

I hope your DD has a better night tonight (tomorrow?) @OhToBeASeahorse Just because she's had a hideous night tonight (last night? Confused) doesn't mean she will again. Poor little sausage. You're doing great Smile

UnaLength · 05/01/2021 05:53

I've been awake since 3am...listening to DH snoring and wondering whether to just give up and go and make tea.

MinnieMountain · 05/01/2021 05:55

@faithfulbird20 5ish was a standard wake up for DS at 3. It gets better.

OhToBeASeahorse · 05/01/2021 05:55

@truthlemon thanks, I'll see what the GP says about whether she should go back on meds or not
As you say babies do have rough nights but indont want to leave her in pain

GLTM · 05/01/2021 06:01

We have to give my baby reflux medicine and it is horrendous. I didn't find the gaviscon worked, but Omprezale helps. There are Facebook support groups that are worth joining, and a lot of parents struggling with the same thing. Good luck

OhToBeASeahorse · 05/01/2021 06:05

@GLTM thanks. How long before you noticed a difference? And did you have a problem with excessive pooing at all?

OP posts:
GLTM · 05/01/2021 22:39

Hi, it took around 3 weeks, as we had to increase the dose. The Doctors start babies on the lowest dose for their weight, rather than the highest. I didn't notice any excessive pooing

OhToBeASeahorse · 06/01/2021 06:49

Thank you. She woke up screaming in the night 3 times, will call dr today

OP posts:
GLTM · 06/01/2021 13:34

Good luck. It's a really tough call, we hate given her medicine, but she was in too much pain and never able to get the rest she needed.

OhToBeASeahorse · 06/01/2021 13:53

See this is the thing, today she is pretty settled, gurgling at me etc. Its made harder without baby groups, no one to bounce things off with.
