Home made playdough. Worth the effort?

Hi all, have been gradually reducing the amount of plastic in our lives. My kids love play doh, but the amount of waste plastic it generates depresses me. Is the home made stuff worth the effort. Does it stain stuff?

duckinatruck, I just used to mix cornflour and conditioner and a bit of food colouring until it was the right consistency. Like the recipe linked above I think it's about 2:1, but it depends on the conditioner you use.
