What a brilliant idea @Honeyroar Smile I would love that if I was out walking somewhere .

MNerGoneRogue · 16/01/2021 19:14

Attempted murder is a bit strong, needtoknow.

It was more an unfortunate by-product of some overly enthusiastic sucking up. Admittedly, NOT the wisest choice I could have made. But not actually malicious

MNerGoneRogue · 16/01/2021 19:18

I'd buy an inferior flapjack. I love a flapjack!

@Honeyroar that sounds fantastic.
In normal times my friend and I often do a walk that passes a converted horse box - cafe that serves the most amazing lemon drizzle tray bake and cherry bake well slices.
They also sell home made dog snacks which suckers like us buy as well.

NeedToKnow101 · 16/01/2021 19:25

@Honeyroar - that's a brilliant idea. We can help you think of names for your business.
Make sure you do savoury snacks too. Some of us don't have a sweet tooth (or any teeth, any more).

MNerGoneRogue · 16/01/2021 19:26

Bows several times

Evening pantry. You're looking lovely tonight.

Don't tell her, cos she hasn't noticed yet (very strong pain killers so I'm told) but I've moved needtoknow down the coolness ladder a bit (seeing as how plaster ain't a very cool look). I hope you're enjoying the space all to yourself

It should be something song lyrics related in honour of us.

Love shack was the first thing that sprang to mind, but I don't think our honey monster is offering those kind of goods for sale!

CoffeeBeansGalore · 16/01/2021 19:33

Brilliant idea Honey. Have sent you a message 😊

Love shack!🤣.
I’ve made lots of inferior flapjack this week. It’s been lush but sticking to the paper a bit!
I’ve just been sitting here furloughed from the café, where I’m on minimum wage, thinking I’m sure I could earn more than that here! I’m just looking into it and whether I’d need planning permission (our planning dept are awful) etc.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 16/01/2021 20:15

The Snack Shack
Walkers Oasis
The Cake Stop

If it's not going to be a permant erection, e.g tow it home each night, I would guess planning not needed but you may need some sort of permission? Would probably need a certificate from environmental health/food hygiene As well?

midgebabe · 16/01/2021 20:22

Speaking as a keen walker, it's bacon butties that are irresistible. Cake is fo cyclists.

Honeyroar · 16/01/2021 20:25

Yes you need health and safety inspections and insurance plus food handlers certificates, which I already have. I’ve been on a mobile food traders page on FB and some councils still insist on planning permissions. When I built my stables they were awkward and said I couldn’t do liveries due to the extra traffic on a country lane. They’d probably pull that card re the kiosk too. I’m loath to bring them into unless I have to, but I also think if I don’t cross all the Ts and for the Is the lady at the next farm will complain. She hates walkers anyway and happens to own a farm shop/cafe two miles away, so would probably love to block any competitors (even though she’s very successful).

CoffeeBeansGalore · 16/01/2021 20:30

Ohh yes, bacon. Freshly made part baked rolls loaded with bacon, lettuce, cherry tomatoes & mayo . .

It wouldn't be extra traffic though Honey. You would be providing a service to those already passing & mainly on foot.

Yes I thought pain au chocolate, fruit tea cakes (which more than 50% of people seem to order for breakfast at the café I work at) and a couple of breakfast butties (egg and bacon or sausage, including a vegan sausage option) in the morning, then a few good options for toasties or paninis and a good home made soup or chilli in the afternoon and a few good cakes. Plus a good coffee machine. But it needs to be easy to do. One of the problems we have at the current café is the menu is too big and things take too long to make.

But it’s daunting too. I’ve worked for a big company for decades, where everything was done for me. I’d have a lot to learn. But it’s something I’ve always fancied doing.

MNerGoneRogue · 16/01/2021 20:33

Ooo. Now you're talking, midge!

Honey where I live (small city) I think you have to have a license if you want to sell fast food in the city centre.
Do you want to keep it permanently on your property or move it around? Might make a difference if you're mobile

Honeyroar · 16/01/2021 20:40

I think I’d have to have a license anyway, but yes I’d keep it here all the time. Perhaps do the odd party/wedding.

I’ve a couple of fed up teacher friends wanting to come and help!

Imagine how good it will be when you all come up/down in your campervans for our 80s festival!😄

MNerGoneRogue · 16/01/2021 20:42

Am I right that you're up near (ish) the lakes, honey? So beautiful up there!

Maybe if the fecking pandemic ever ends, we could have a walking holiday near you??? I like walking too. Coffee can bring her dogs. I can bring my poor excuse for one. Who else on here has dogs (other than the honey monster herself)?

Coffee, your bacon butties are far too posh. Toast, bacon, bit of butter, brown sauce. Job done.

(Anyone claiming ketchup will end up like needtoknow. Capicbe

MNerGoneRogue · 16/01/2021 20:42

(Oppps. Capiche!)

Cross Post!

midgebabe · 16/01/2021 20:51

And we have a van!

Honeyroar · 16/01/2021 20:52

I’ve nearly filled the thread up wittering on about it! I’m a bit lower than the lakes, above Manchester in the Pennines. Similar countryside but reservoirs not lakes.

Honeyroar · 16/01/2021 20:55

Perfect Midge. And we’ve got a field and possibly a mobile café.. I’ll accost New Model Army man when he next drives past and get him in festival planning mode. He’s done some fab little ones in the past.

midgebabe · 16/01/2021 21:05

Hebden bridge to skipton is a lovely area and would fit your description. Don't know the mor westerly direction. The pennine way is on our dream list. We hope to be able to take a train to edale and walk home. Need to get fit. Need to move home. Need cash and time.

Honeyroar · 16/01/2021 21:10

We’re not far from Hebden Bridge, yes similar country.

midgebabe · 16/01/2021 21:11

We are now pouring over the map and dreaming

Staving off boredom
