Saucepan lid horror

I have just done the washing up and noticed that one of the saucepan lid knobs seemed a bit loose. So I tried to tighten it but went the wrong way and the whole knob came off in a dismantlable way, knob then big washer thing and screw and metal disc and underneath it was... well the lid is glass and there was a circle in the middle that was looked like a weasel had spunked on it and then rubbed peas in it [boak]

There are three saucepans in the set, the other two were the same, I am horrified and disgusted with my slovenly saucepan lid habits.

I put in new bathrooms 8 years ago and I have never removed the toilet seat. I clean round it with an old toothbrush and bleach and that’s good enough for me!

If you can’t see it then it does no harm 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

Soaking organic or home grown veg in salt water is supposed to make the caterpillars float out.

Frenchdressing · 31/12/2020 07:06

Well I currently have a dead mouse or more somewhere behind the kitchen unit. At some point I (DH) will have to get down there and clean it all out. Along with all the droppings.

I feel like burning down the house.

I found maggots in a forgotten ham sandwich... 🤮 🤮 🤮 🤮 🤮 I was on the phone to a friend who was most concerned when I screamed and dropped the receiver!!!

captainpantbeard · 31/12/2020 07:15

Check the microwave ceiling....

captainpantbeard · 31/12/2020 07:17

I found a washed slug in the dishwasher. It was all pale and ghostly. I didn’t know what to do so I just left the house until DH was due home. When I got back it had GONE ShockShockShock

JumpLeadsForTwo · 31/12/2020 07:36

I've almost drunk out of a water bottle with a slug inside- must have climbed up whilst drying in the rack Shock

YesPleaseMary · 31/12/2020 09:44

@captainpantbeard at least it was a clean slug...

Found a mummified mouse under the sofa cushions, our cats are terrible for bringing in live mice and letting them go

theconstantinoplegardener · 31/12/2020 13:07

I once found maggots in DD's lunchbox Envy (not envy). It was one of those soft-sided washbag-type lunchbags that you can only wipe clean rather than wash, and I think some food must have been stuck in the seam and attracted flies...

I bought her a Tupperware lunchbox that very day, with no hidden nooks and crannies, and it gets properly washed in the dishwasher.

lyinginthegutterstaringatstars · 31/12/2020 13:12

Some of these are really Shock

MilesJuppIsAnOldSlutOnJunk · 31/12/2020 13:19

Maybe the handle was stuck on with weasel spunk originally? Renewable resource.

rollinggreenhills · 31/12/2020 14:20

Just... UGH.

As a teen I found a flattened mouse under a rug at the bottom of a flight of stairs, smushed in to the carpet. I had lifted the rug to vacuum under it, so I just lowered the rug and moved on.

I helped DH clear his student house (all male) at the end of a two year let so he’d get his deposit back. I am still haunted by the memories of what I found in the fridge and under one of the beds.

Spacecudet · 31/12/2020 19:25

I shouldn't admit to this. I found maggots in my sofa this summer. I hoovered them up and hoped for the best.

Tangledtresses · 31/12/2020 19:32

Omg I'm sat here drinking by my sad self and thinking 😱😱😱

Off and checks

Lunch bags
Toilet seat
Capes phew have none 🥲

Found a bottle of gin in the camper van though 😂😂

Happy new year you filthy animals ❤️

petrocellihouse · 31/12/2020 20:23

I make my morning cuppa using loose leaf tea, in a teapot. It gets a good clean after each use. But today something made me look into the spout. Eeek! Black mould. And slime. It had a good soak in bleach and a scrub with a toothbrush. I’ll be keeping an eye on it from now on!

Lisyloo725 · 31/12/2020 20:50

@plonque - I use a lolly stick....but not as often as I should 🤭😬

Probablier · 01/01/2021 01:58

Didn't happen to me, but someone I know. Her mum took the crumb tray out of the toaster one day to clean it and there was a little dead mouse squished inside Shock Worst part was, it hadn't been cleaned in months, so who knows how long they were eating dead mouse toast for 😱

FamilyOfAliens · 01/01/2021 15:19

@OldAndWornOut

Washing machine drawer, anyone?
Mine clicks out for washing - don’t they all these days?
AlbusSeverusMalfoy · 01/01/2021 15:23

@mynameiscalypso

DS once threw his lidded water cup in such a way that all the various bits came apart to reveal a large amount of black mouldy disgustingness. I'm telling myself that it has helped to build his immune system (and promptly bought a load of new and eat to clean supply cups)
Have you look at any bath toys with holes, they'll be full of mound too. Especially the squirty kind.
