Dh big birthday coming up, would love to book a little break for us both. (Let's pretend covid has fucked off). UK or Europe, nothing adventurous. Cheers

Malaga.

We got flights from Liverpool to Porto, Friday to Monday, for about £50 which would be super handy for you OP.

Palma’s lovely too.

Not sure Gwent is particularly accessible from Bruges! Maybe Ghent though.

Prague is good (hopefully not too many stag dos anymore - maybe the only benefit of Brexit), although I wouldn't recommend going there for the food. The beer, yes, the food, no.

Budapest is spectacular. Lisbon is lovely, Bruges is lovely. In fact there are so many lovely places to recommend it's hard to narrow down without a bit more information.

I'm being a bit shite with details aren't I, truth is I'm not entirely sure what I want. Our holidays have always included the dc so I don't know exactly what we'll do on our own other than eat, drink and shag!

Dubrovnik or Venice

Second Berlin. It has everything - architecture, history, culture and nightlife. Easy to get round and so much to do.

Lisbon is also lovely - DP and I fell in love with it instantly. Pick your time wisely though, as apparently it's heaving in the summer months. We went just before Christmas and it was amazing. Very untouristy and around 17c every day. The people were really friendly and the food was unbelievably good.

I would think about Dublin, London, Rome, Vienna or Sienna.

Whatever you book, enquire about refunds should you not be able to go because of Covid. I have a holiday rental here in the UK and, like many privates offer a full refund. However Air bnb and some hotels have let people reschedule but not cancel. So I suggest you check before you book anything. Have fun!

Budapest is my go to City break. The baths are outstanding, you can take a dinner cruise down the Danube, visit Margaret Island which is in the middle of the Danube, the restaurants in general are fantastic and it’s not at all expensive.

HannibalHayes · 28/12/2020 19:35

What kind of food do you like, and what kind of drink? (I won't ask about the other Grin)

@BarryWhiteIsMyBrother will do, thanks.

Budapest sounds great! I'm listing all suggestions btw and furiously googling. Cheers all.

Budapest definitely does the spicy stuff.

Bruges and Lille do, er, hearty food, and fantastic beer.

StopMakingATitOfUrselfNPissOff · 28/12/2020 21:11

Oh Budapest is fabulous
