Yes, I'm 31 years old. No, I don't have kids to play with me. But... I'm SO excited!

Anyone got any good game recommendations? I don't really know where to start with my foray into gaming....

Overcooked is amazing for playing together

billybullshitterz1n · 26/12/2020 14:01

We spent most of yesterday playing Super Mario Kart our ages range from 24 to 64 😁

ChristmasBubble · 26/12/2020 14:02

I wasn't really in to Mario and Rabbids Kingdom Battle when I first got it but I've been playing it over Christmas and have got really hooked. It's a strategy turn taking battle game.

Breath of the Wild is the best game
I've played I think. I've spent hundreds of hours on it.

Animal Crossing is quite samey but I do play it.

BettyCrockaShit · 26/12/2020 14:04

Ahhh we've been considering doing the same! Purely for the fact we want to play Untitled Goose Game - have you seen it OP?

BanningTheWordNaice · 26/12/2020 14:05

Okami is magical!

BettyCrockaShit · 26/12/2020 14:05

Just saw you mentioned UTG - friends of mine say it's the best/daftest game they've ever played. Highly recommended by them to de-stress.

Orangesarenottheonlyfruit · 26/12/2020 14:06

Zelda Breath of the Wild is awesome.
I didn't get on with Hollow Knight.
Just bought Immortal Fenyx Rising, looks incredible.
I play far more than the kids. I love computer games!

Wandling · 26/12/2020 14:06

@DanNickBen

Hollow Knight Ori and the Blind Forest Celeste

All worth having a look at

I was just about to recommend all 3 of these Smile We must have similar taste.

Ori has a lovely soundtrack and ambience.

slipperywhensparticus · 26/12/2020 14:11

@LaurieFairyCake

We started Animal Crossing 2 days ago

So far all we've been able to do is pick up branches and eat pears

Why can't I push that cunt who looks like a bird in the river Angry

Disclaimer/ no children here, it's for DH and I after my sister aged 48 said it was fun Hmm

Seriously WHAT THE FUCK

2nd disclaimer - I've NEVER played computer games

You need to do stuff to progress in the game the first week can be tedious Google it and look up turnip exchange you can go off island and shop

If you want to push people about and torment them try untitled goose game

KatyMac · 26/12/2020 14:20

I am loving Zelda; DD's bf got me the extension pack and its fab

I have done 120 shrines (been playing for months) but I still have 785 Koran seeds to find and a tonne of side quests - but I got the 4 divine beasts twice!

I am officially addicted!

Allgirlskidsanddogs · 26/12/2020 14:33

Mario Cart

zzizz · 26/12/2020 14:44

Yonder the Cloud Catcher Chronicles is one of the most beautiful relaxing games I've ever played on the Switch.

You can get Stardew Valley on it too if you like addictive phone type games.

ZeldaPrincessOfHyrule · 26/12/2020 14:58

Zelda - and be prepared to lose weeks and months to it Grin I'm in the process of 100%ing it and I'm still not bored: I've had it three years.

Edith Finch is incredible, it's beautiful and weird and sad and if you like that kind of story-driven stuff it's great. I did cry though, and I've got a heart of stone usually.

Mario Odyssey is excellent, it's like an upgrade on the Mario Galaxy games. Loads of fun and easy to pick up/put down and come back to.

Untitled Goose Game is hilarious, my kids play that more than me but it's really good for a bit of silliness.

Animal Crossing is lovely, it got me through the first lockdown actually when I was working from home and completely unable to stop and take a break. It's perfect for some escapism.

I wish I had my own Switch and it wasn't our family console, I really do!

Cheesefootballfan · 26/12/2020 14:59

@lauriefairycake This made me giggle

So many amazing recommendations, thank you all!

Any gaming etiquette that I need know about? Must it always be done in pyjamas?

Animal crossing

Cheesefootballfan · 26/12/2020 15:01

Anyone tried Baba is You? Recommended by a friend that has usually very weird taste.... So thought I'd come here for a 2nd opinion 😂

sunflowerdaysinmay · 26/12/2020 15:02

DH and I love our Switch! We are in our 30s and tend to play it together once DS (18 months old) goes to bed for the night.
We love Mario Kart, Super Mario Party, Pokemon Let's Go and Super Mario Bros U Deluxe.
I think Animal Crossing might be our next game...
Hope you enjoy your new console OP!

Cheesefootballfan · 26/12/2020 15:03

@bettycrockashit It sounds fabulous - I've seen YouTube videos and it's right up my street! Just need to convert DP to gaming now...

Cheesefootballfan · 26/12/2020 15:04

Really want to order Zelda now! Ahhh

NeverTalksToStrangers · 26/12/2020 15:07

I LOVED Luigis mansion.

Dh bought me Zelda BOTW for Christmas, can't wait to play it

Blueemeraldagain · 26/12/2020 15:09

My DP and I are really into Spyro Trilogy and Pikmin 3 at the moment. Also love Animal Crossing, Unravel and he loved Breath of the Wild.

ProbablyFault · 26/12/2020 15:50

This thread is totally encouraging me to buy more Switch games 🙈

36degrees · 26/12/2020 15:58

@Cheesefootballfan my 10yo loves Baba is You, and it's one of the few games she has that I don't mind watching/helping her with.

doodlyfiddly · 26/12/2020 16:02

I love Animal Crossing! It's so lovely and relaxing. But I let my daughter get it started first and build up all the good stuff before I got involved! Wink
