What's your favourite present this Christmas?

Wanting to spread some positivity while I'm on night shift with my newborn as I've read so many posts of people unhappy with their presents or Christmas itself (some justifiably so).

What's your favourite (physical or non-physical) present this Christmas? Anything that just made you happy?

I got a lovely cafetière for my coffee addiction and a beautiful eternity ring to mark my son's birth (born 4 weeks early last month).

Then as a soppy non-material present was to be able to spend a mellow Christmas with DH just playing games, eating food and having a nice glass of wine. He's a key worker and shifts don't always let him have Christmas off so being able to have the time with him especially with lockdown and no other family allowed has made all the difference.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. My son really is amazing and I'm taking all the credit for it!
Today he's back to normal teenager and is still asleep Grin

Some Robert 'mouseman' Thompson bookends. From my best friend. I've coveted them for years. He was going to buy me a set, but he gave me his instead. So chuffed!

RainyDay2020 · 26/12/2020 16:20

One child gave me a ‘kindness voucher’ saying that she will help with the washing up.
The other child has autism and can find big celebrations stressful but he gave me a hug and said he’d had a lovely day - I had to hold back tears.

Some really cosy socks and a t-shirt. Easily pleased Xmas Grin

Some lovely posts here.

My DH managed to get me a second hand copy of a book called Local Hero based upon the film of the same name, the book is hard to get hold of so I am really happy.

He also bought me a silver necklace with a turtle pendant as I adore turtles. It's gorgeous .

Best preset of all though was Christmas alone as a family, it was lovely as there was no pressure to get anything from done. We ate dinner about 5.30pm and then just relaxed all evening. It was a ,overly day,

My partner got me a map of the stars from the day I met my son.

My second favourite is a little ruffwear bag for when I walk the dog.

peaceanddove · 26/12/2020 17:28

A beautiful, black, lambskin aviator jacket from DH. It is so cosy.

TMI but a pair of very expensive pants in my stocking from DH! I suppose it was a present for him too! I also got the coat I've had my eye on- so cosy and perfect shape.

To make you all laugh my DC3- who is 8 and has adhd and asd- liked all his presents, but when asked what was his favourite he bypassed the Nintendo Switch, Lego and myriad of other things to choose 2 little figures with sticky hands and feet which flip down the window: they were 69p and he played with them for 2 hours solid!Grin

Deathraystare · 26/12/2020 19:11

A very thoughtful gift from a colleague. One of those metal card holders (with the security thingy). Mine was in a handbag that got nicked. She knows I always have a problem looking for the right card! I was really touched!

LutinDeSapin · 26/12/2020 19:35

DD wrapped up one of her toys the day after we put the tree up and put it under the tree so I would know that I was going to get something for Christmas. (I think she's still upset DH didn't tell them when it was my birthday or organise gifts or cake.)

The look of surprise when DC opened their presents from each other - they'd both decided to give each other the same thing Grin

Puffalicious where are they from / what are they called? DS would love them!

Livefortherain · 26/12/2020 19:37

I gave DS8 and DD7 my bank card and MIL took them to Home Bargains. They got me a notebook, pens, fluffy socks and a box of chocolates. Literally my favourite things. They also got DH a few things. They LOVED doing it so I'll definitely let them do it every year.

I already knew I was getting Pandora charms from DH because we decided on it together and I hate surprises. I gave him a list of 10 charms i liked but let him pick. He somehow managed to choose the ones I loved the most. It always surprises me just how well he knows me.

yogafairy · 26/12/2020 19:41

My DD8 with asd chose things that are special to her from her bedroom and wrapped them in a box for me for my Christmas present. 🥰

What's your favourite present this Christmas?
letsnotscaretheneighbours · 26/12/2020 19:43

My 2 Yr too late engagement ring, he said I deserved it because I've been busting a gut this year for work and him and I deserve it. He also bought me Pack Rabanne 'Millions' (lady version) because 'I'm one in a million' and he also bought me some trail running shoes so I don't go arse over tit running in the woods and break my toe again.

I have a very thoughtful husband that knows next year won't be quite as elaborate so I got spoilt this year.

letsnotscaretheneighbours · 26/12/2020 19:44

@yogafairy that is the nicest gift 😁 you have a lovely dd.

Puffalicious · 26/12/2020 23:06

LutindeSapin sticky wall crawlers or flippers example

Puffalicious · 26/12/2020 23:07

I got mine in home bargains.

Serena1977 · 26/12/2020 23:16

I was very lucky this year because dh splurged because of the rubbish year.

I got a very expensive canon camera but my favourite was a Roland Garros tennis towel.

GlamourSpider · 26/12/2020 23:23

A bath caddy with space for tablet/book, phone & drink :-)

soupmaker · 26/12/2020 23:30

DH got me a pile of books, UGG slippers, new mudguards for my bike, and a table top curling game! Love 'em all. He did really well. I also love a small bronze hare photo holder a work colleague gave me.

Dowser · 26/12/2020 23:34

My granddaughter( 11) got some expensive presents but played all afternoon with some fidget toys that probably cost £
Kids are so funny.
She did made a lovely painting on canvas and it now hides the fugly security alarm in the hall.
