Mortgage is it worth it?

What are the chances of getting a mortgage just turned 40? Looking to get it in a years time. Both full time and combined salary around 90000. Any advice? 25 years mortgage at our age seems a bit risky?

Dh and I got a mortgage at 41 and took it out over 27 years, but we plan on making overpayments when I go back to work full time in a few years.

Thanks for the advice. Should have explained we have lived overseas and owned before now. Only been back in uk 2 years so we were finding our area getting settled.
We do have a bit of savings and mortgage would be about same as rent.
