Ah thats a great idea Motherofmonsters - thanks. Will try it tomorrow.

MonkeyPuddle · 29/01/2021 19:20

Oooh that could use some of the loo roll inners I’ve been hoarding.

Have decided to end dry January a few days early. DD had her 2nd jabs today and frankly, it’s 2021, January, I’ve got two kids, one with reflux and an allergy to naps and I deserve a glass of very cold white wine 😂

PinkDaydreams · 29/01/2021 19:44

@MonkeyPuddle never mind a glass, you deserve the full bottle!!

@PinkDaydreams don’t tempt me 😂

PinkDaydreams · 29/01/2021 19:49

@MonkeyPuddle drink your glass from a tuff tray, that way you can pass it off as still parenting Grin

MonkeyPuddle · 29/01/2021 19:52

@PinkDaydreams maybe if I put my crisps and dip on there I can call it a sensory experience as well!

Love that!! How was the sensory experience? Still experiencing the after effects now?!

Motherofmonsters · 30/01/2021 14:13

The weather is awful and will be all weekend! Not sure if I'm sad or happy I don't have to go for another walk

DH and DS have been planting seeds today which DS loved, especially as DH put him charge of the spray bottle.

Rice has also been requested again 👍

MonkeyPuddle · 30/01/2021 15:03

Well I was hungover this morning after two glasses. So not worth it when the baby woke up at 6am.
Been for a walk, we took picnic and hot chocolate. Helps when DS starts getting a bit tired, carbs and a warm drink. Think we did about 5 miles.

Motherofmonsters · 31/01/2021 11:50

Horrendous weather and a hyper child, my favourite combination. Roll on bedtime

PinkDaydreams · 31/01/2021 15:26

Oh my goodness roll on bedtime.
Took son to the park this morning which was a disaster, screamed non stop for an hour. Thrashing round in his pram, when he was out of it he was full on screaming still. Got back to the car and he was still screaming. No idea why, people staring at me and asking "what's wrong with him" also didn't help :( I had a little cry as well which isn't like me as normally I'm so strong. I'm awaiting an official ASD diagnosis for him which I should receive soon and think it just all got on top of me today.
Anyway, far too much iPad time when we got home but to be honest he hardly ever has it and it's been a tough day.

prettygirlincrimsonrose · 31/01/2021 16:11

That sounds really tough @PinkDaydreams, hope this afternoon is going better.

Haven't posted much because I'm being rubbish at doing interesting things, and then wonder why DS seems frustrated. He's generally hitting/kicking/throwing a lot at the moment and I'm constantly trying to get him to be more gentle and stopping him doing things. I know he probably needs more outside time/rough and tumble, neither of which are particularly appealing (generally lacking energy and motivation at the moment and finding DS and pregnancy a tough combination). Basically tired and lazy and miserable because I feel like I'm being a rubbish mum by not doing more fun things Sad

Motherofmonsters · 31/01/2021 16:31

Sorry your trip to the park was a disaster @pinkdays, hoping your afternoon approved.

Don't worry about not doing interesting things @prettygirlincrimson I've tried to do a bit more than usual with DS this week and it's still a battle. DS is really struggling with Anger at the moment, and is hitting more. He got me square in the eye earlier when i wouldn't remove DD from 'his' conservatory.

Camomila · 31/01/2021 16:50

Sorry to hear about your rubbish park trip @PinkDayDreams

@prettygirlincrimsonrose we do nothing interesting either, we both work, we nag DS1 through his home schooling, and we go for local walks. DS1 complains every weekend is boring and he misses his friends and school.

DS2 is cutting (I think) his one year molars as well as one bottom tooth and maybe a canine. The last few days he has alternated between dosed up on nurofen/screaming/being asleep because he is worn out from the screaming.
It's especially sad when he shouts "mamma" while crying. DS1 is being very good and staying quiet wherever DS2 naps.

...On the plus side, as I said to my DH earlier we are nearly done with January! That's one month of 2021 passed.
Now there's just Final 2 week stretch to half term to go and then we are in the final Run to Easter.

WeSearchedHereWeSearchedThere · 31/01/2021 18:49

Sorry about your park trip @PinkDaydreams. I hope an ASD diagnosis might bring you some help and explanations, even if it doesn’t actually change anything.

@prettygirlincrimsonrose outside time is such hard work at the moment. Today I had to literally wrestle DS1 in to his outdoor gear with him kicking and screaming (my poor neighbours..).

Managed to do a bit of weeding today (after the wrestling match DS1 had a wonderful time helping) felt really good to do something productive. We’re lucky to have a big garden so I think I need to make the most of it and get some veg growing. Struggling a bit mental health wise (lingering PND, it’s never been debilitating, just crap) and I think gardening could really help.

footprintsintheslow · 31/01/2021 19:11

Can I join in the moans. Vile toddler today, freezing weather, breast feeding in park in January is horrific, grumpy H. Two kids at home is harder than teaching 30 in a classroom.

Tuff tray has been water beads for three days and then playdough for two. I'm packing it away tonight for more space.

I hope everyone has a better day today. I decided to let the toddler go wild with a can of crazy soap this morning...

Motherofmonsters · 01/02/2021 11:23

That looks like great fun.

Were having an okay day, they both woke at 5am on the dot so it's dragging a bit, DD was all napped by 10am.
Rice was asked for again but has largely been ignored so will hide it away for a bit.

We did a game on the tablet recommended by preschool which DS liked for a little bit and that's all the excitement so far.

MessAllOver · 01/02/2021 13:01

Sorry, a bit behind with this thread - will have to catch up. We've had kinetic sand out for the past few days with some cookie cutters. Absolute life-saver since I've had lots to do for work. We had a couple of rainy walks over the weekend and DS enjoyed rolling in the mudbath which is our local playground at the moment. A muddy puddle and a small toy bucket with holes in the bottom was a great success. I'm usually a flag-waver for the "fresh air and exercise" brigade but would love, love, love softplay at the moment!

Motherofmonsters · 01/02/2021 15:21

We went out in the rain again, got soaked again, got covered in mud again. Everyone's shoes are drying on the radiator again. All the clothes are in the washing machine again.... I would like to day I'm done with the walks but I can't not go out as I'll lose my sanity

jobbyjg · 01/02/2021 16:28

Jelli bath anyone? Pretty gross stuff but kept ds amused for ages. Stirring and getting cars stuck in it

PinkDaydreams · 01/02/2021 16:57

Does the gellibaff jelly stuff stain clothing does anyone know? Never tried it before

Lostthetastefordahlias · 01/02/2021 18:28

We had the blue jelli bath in the summer and it did not stain - didnt really transfer much colour. The only issue we had was that the stuff that was meant to dissolve it so it would go down the plug didnt work and it was a pain getting rid of it!!

footprintsintheslow · 01/02/2021 20:30

I've heard it's a pain to get rid of too.

Another day another cold breastfeeding session in another park.

We did have some excitement today. My eldest daughter ordered a tuff tray mirror which arrived as a surprise today.

Better day here today.
Had homemade bigne for my coffee break (dad has been lockdown baking), DS2s teeth horror appears to be over, only got vomited on once, and all DS1s home learning got done straight after dinner, including by coincidence one of the optional bits (DM had recorded him singing a song so we uploaded it for the talent show),

Just need to get DS1 to sleep and I may even get to watch 1 hours tv after I've tidied up the living room.

Motherofmonsters My sympathies, I had to wash the scooter in the bathtub on Saturday. DM has taken DS1s coats home to wash and tumble dry because I can't keep up with the mud-wash-dry cycle at all (no outside drying space and a rubbish washing machine tumble drier combination thing).

I'm usually a flag-waver for the "fresh air and exercise" brigade but would love, love, love softplay at the moment!
Me too, especially if I could have a cuppucino and some cake. I wouldn't even mind a trip to one of the London museums right now!
