Why hadn't I thought of Pinterest?! No woods near by unfortunately, hopefully the weather will stay dry and we can walk to the park though.
I'm so confused about what's allowed during lockdown and what isn't. Am I allowed to drive to a woods, or how far am I allowed to drive to?

meow1989 · 13/01/2021 10:07

Congratulations @footprintsintheslow!

As far as distance I initially thought same county would be fine then thought I old drive as long as it was somewhere I could feasibly walk to (but would be too much for ds to walk to and back plus)

PinkDaydreams · 13/01/2021 10:59

I think I'll stay safe then and just stick to walking distance as I'm so confused about whether we are allowed to travel in the car or not. I originally thought we weren't allowed to meet anyone from bother household outside but reading on here I'm jealous of those meeting friends in parks etc

I'm driving to a different village today, as it has a beach with a scooter friendly promenade and a park with an exciting nautical theme. It's only a few miles away - I thought you were allowed to travel within 10 miles?

ReallySpicyCurry · 13/01/2021 11:06

I'm putting makeup on and everything, even though it's pissing down and there'll be nobody there

Owww that sounds lovely even despite the crap weather. I'm not sure if they have ever clarified what distance counts as local so unless you're planning a 2 hour trek across Britain I would imagine you'll be fine.

Congratulations @footprintsintheslow a new baby to snuggle sounds like a great way to start 2021.

Minster2012 · 13/01/2021 12:17

Congratulations @footprintsintheslow ❤️🙌🏻🥳

Camomila · 13/01/2021 13:28

@footprintsintheslow congratulations! FlowersCakeBrewDaffodil

All fine but tiiiired here (am working full time for a few weeks while I get retrained after mat leave) then after work it's dinner, finish home learning, DSs bed times, get up again and tidy. Yaaawn

Motherofmonsters · 13/01/2021 15:57

@footprintsintheslow Congratulations!!

I've been driving to exercise as there is no where in walking distance to go and DS will not walk on roads. I've not gone further than 10mins but it makes loads of difference in places to go.

ReallySpicyCurry · 13/01/2021 17:38

This is Dennis.

Dennis doesn't think I'm from round these ere parts

Dennis suspects I'm from forrin (two villages over)

Dennis briefly contemplates sidling up to me and trying to find out who I'm related to.

Dennis thinks better of it when he realises that my presence here, dragging a furious toddler out of piles of seaweed, on the darkest, rainiest day in living memory, may indicate that the lift does not go all the way to the top.

Dennis is correct.

Sure the gentle breeze makes it all better 😂

I would welcome snow for a day or two. Nature's tuff tray.

Lostthetastefordahlias · 13/01/2021 21:57

Nature’s tuff tray Grin brilliant.

I had some success in occupying the toddler while the baby was feeding by just emptying a packet of postcards only to tuff tray and asking her to find me all of them with mountains on etc. Going to do this again with old birthday cards as well. Raining all day here today so we have done daniella ballerina on youtube and andys wild workouts on cbeebies rather than expose the baby to a drizzly walk.

WeSearchedHereWeSearchedThere · 13/01/2021 23:18

My boy is DESPERATE for snow! He’s never seen it properly (though it snowed so heavily the week he was born that my mum swapped cars so we could have her 4x4 in case of emergency!). He was so excited when we had a few flakes the other day, it was genuinely quite heartbreaking!

FolkSongSweet · 14/01/2021 07:37

My DS had never seen snow either. We’re in London and the last time we had snow was when I was pregnant with him in Feb 2018! I’d be so excited for him to see it!

Motherofmonsters · 14/01/2021 08:14

DS technically has seen it but he wasn't old enough to do much in it and can't remember. I would love to have some snow, we only have it once every couple of years and I only had one snow day at school.

My tuff tray and stand as been lost according to Amazon, so I think I'm going have to order another one. It's gone up £15 since I tried to buy it so not sure if they've pretended they've sent it and changed the price. My

PinkDaydreams · 14/01/2021 10:37

I know everyone is fed up of lockdown, feels worse when it's non-stop raining though :( walking on reins with my son has been a nightmare lately. He's got ASD and has been having meltdowns (think throwing himself on the floor/road whilst crossing) whilst out, probably too much sensory stimulation. This has now put me off walking him on reins as the roads are too dangerous.
He was due to start nursery but that's now been delayed and I feel so sad as he's really ready for it, as am I!

Sorry to moan!

Same4Walls · 14/01/2021 10:42

Moan away PinkDaydreams. I'm finding the wet weather utterly unbearable. Ds hates the rain and rain cover so it's not worth the tantrums taking him out in it. We have snow here today but it's mixed in with rain which in some ways almost feels worse than just having rain.

PinkDaydreams · 14/01/2021 10:54

@Same4Walls I think I could handle just snow, but yes completely agree snow and rain is utter miserable!!

MonkeyPuddle · 14/01/2021 11:05

Snow here. That’s gotta be tough @PinkDaydreams
Waiting to get baby DD to sleep so I can take DD in the garden. It’s not enclosed (we rent) so he can’t go out there by himself.

Trapped toddler parents of the fabled Winter 2020/2021. Puddle suits at the ready..hello Christmas!
MonkeyPuddle · 14/01/2021 16:54

Well today we have played in the snow, it’s going to be down to -3 tonight so it’ll be around tomorrow too, DS is hoping his snowman stays til tomorrow.
Inside we’ve made magic wands with pipe cleaners and Pom poms and acted out the Room on the Broom book eleventy billion times, magnet tiles have been well used as has the etch a sketch, I’d hidden both of them for a few weeks so it was like having a brand new toy again for him.
DD has vomited consistently all day again, the gaviscon doesn’t seem to be doing the trick anymore, it helped reduce the vomit but now it just comes up a bit later, with force and lots of acid. Have a doctors appointment tomorrow to see what the next step is.

PinkDaydreams · 14/01/2021 17:29

@MonkeyPuddle apologies if it has already been mentioned but could your little have cow's milk allergy? I remember replying to one of your posts about gaviscon. My boy had severe reflux (GERD) and cow's milk allergy. I ended up having to take him to hospital before I was taken seriously as he was losing weight from the amount of vomit and sloppy poo. Omeprazole and milk free formula worked for him. You have my complete sympathy, I know how rough it is. Good luck at the doctor's tomorrow and don't be afraid to tell them exactly what you want, don't be fobbed off by them! Flowers

footprintsintheslow · 14/01/2021 19:07

Where are you all with snow? Just rain here.

MonkeyPuddle · 14/01/2021 19:20

@PinkDaydreams I’ve cut diary out from yesterday, will give it 3-4 weeks and see how it goes when I reintroduce something (will deffo be a massive chocolate bar!) DD is breastfed and getting the gaviscon down her at every feed just has her screaming even more. I think the medics are a bit like oh she’ll be ok as she was a big baby at birth but she’s dropping centiles now.

@footprintsintheslow we’re in Leeds, we’ve had a good 4 inches. 4 inches more than I’ve had in a long time Grin
