WTF???

So many questions 😂 like why does one of the kids wear sports gear all the time instead of school uniform like everyone else?

I absolutely bloody LOVE IT!!!!

It's funny and silly and ridiculous and I cry every single time at the actual nativity scenes.

It's just brilliant!

Justgivemewine · 12/12/2020 23:52

@Meredusoleil

Love love love this film. It is a bit sad though. Nativity 2 is funnier and even more crazy. If that's possible to believe! Nativity 3 and 4 are good too. We love all the films so much, we went to see the live show back in December last year before all the theatres shot down. Mr Poppy is totally bonkers in all of them. But I do love the kids singing 😍
We (dh and I, not the kids Grin ) love the Nativity films, didn’t realise there was a 4th,
Ricepops · 12/12/2020 23:53

Love the lyrics to one of the other songs:

She's not my type
He's not that bad
Not the most gorgeous, I've ever had

Hilarious every time!

GlummyMcGlummerson · 12/12/2020 23:56

I work in a private school and the Jason Watkins character is EXACTLY like our drama teacher 😂 and the spooky IT-style nativity they put on had me in hysterics.

Another fun fact - the woman who made this film edited the whole thing in her spare room. It was very low budget and made a killing

TheGreatWave · 13/12/2020 00:07

I love them, haven't watched the first for a while. Watched 3 last weekend.

It is just bonkers, no thinking watching. No over complicated plots and the kids just make it.

Anoisagusaris · 13/12/2020 00:12

I’ve only seen 1 and 2 and love them so much. Every school needs a Mr Poppy. That sense of pure joy and wildness and a belief that anything is possible is what kids (and adults!) need.

isawthat · 13/12/2020 00:16

I love it! DD and DS1 are 4 and 3 and they watch it all the time. I cry at the end, I think it’s brilliant

SingingSands · 13/12/2020 00:19

Watched this tonight with DS whilst putting up the tree, which has become a bit of a tradition for us. I got the traditional "dust in my eye" all through the performance. It's just a lovely movie and I get very sentimental over the kids singing. I'm a big softie!

ikltownofboothlehem · 13/12/2020 00:21

FIL & his wife genuinely thought The Beast from The Chase was Mr Poppy Grin

DanielODonkey · 13/12/2020 00:23

Oh I love them, primarily for the fact that some things make no sense. The total commitment from the kids for their talents just makes me smile. And I always cry when they actually do the nativity.

And then I cry at nativity2 and the babies

And nativity 3.

Watched nativity rocks at the request of DS this morning. I cried.

None of the films make a heap of sense. My kids love them and find it hilarious when I cry HmmGrin

GlummyMcGlummerson · 13/12/2020 00:38

@ikltownofboothlehem

FIL & his wife genuinely thought The Beast from The Chase was Mr Poppy Grin
😂😂😂😂

That's hilarious!

ikltownofboothlehem · 13/12/2020 00:57

@GlummyMcGlummerson - I know. We were Shock. It took ages to convince them it wasn't. With photos. Still not convinced they believe us.

Thereluctantstepmother · 13/12/2020 07:51

I LOVE Nativity! I usually hate kids’ films but Nativity is a cut above.

Sawyersfishbiscuits · 13/12/2020 08:35

My kids absolutely love these and every year watch them repeatedly. My Dad watched the first one with DS and loved it!

Is Nativity Rocks streaming on anywhere? They haven't seen that one yet.

PuddleglumtheMarshWiggle · 13/12/2020 08:46

I love the film but can't get over the fact that one boy performs in both school performances!

Walkley18 · 13/12/2020 09:07

The first time I watched it I was so moved that they all wanted to be Joseph and then they were all given the Joseph part. And Mr Poppy at the parents meeting with Hollywood announcements is brilliant. I'm not so keen on subsequent Nativity films but the first one is a masterclass in producing a feel good movie.

Aztectrousers · 13/12/2020 09:25

I love the first Nativity and cry every time. The kids are brilliant. The second one is ok but the third is rubbish and I had to fast forward to the end. One of the girls in it must be about 15!
Don’t think I can face a 4th one.

LutherRalph1 · 13/12/2020 09:27

My absolute favourite! Yes it's bonkers but it adds to it and I love the music

sluj · 13/12/2020 09:38

I love this and have been listening to the soundtrack whilst working from home. I have seen it so many times, I can picture the scenes when the music is on.

I always cry when "One moment " starts as it drags you right back from the madness to the actual reason for the nativity.
A perfect film from female talent!

musicalfrog · 13/12/2020 09:44

Mumsnet gives the best reviews! Thank you so much, I'll watch again with the kids this time and NOT overthink it. You'd think the wine last night would have stopped that but oh well. Grin

@TimeIhadaNameChange yes!!! Thank you xx

FAQs · 13/12/2020 12:41

I didn’t know there is a 4th one. 3rd was dire but 1&2 are so funny, especially when you see David T genuinely laughing, or trying not to.

Archersandlemonade · 13/12/2020 21:44

@PuddleglumtheMarshWiggle I gig the understand that either - where so they come from?

vampirethriller · 13/12/2020 21:50

How does nobody realise the children have gone to America?
I love it though.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 13/12/2020 21:58

I love these films. We all need a Mr Poppy. DC had a teacher not too dissimilar to Mr Poppy, they learnt loads from him. He was fabulous, no naughty behaviour in class.

Don’t think about parent consent forms or health and safety or safeguarding! Take it for what it is.
