What an absolute gem she was. So saddened by this.

Ah, god bless Babs.

I don't know - she was one of those actors you felt as if she was truly the person you knew on screen. Very odd.

Alzheimers is cruel, so death is "nothing at all". Much love to her loved ones.

They've put Sparrows Can't Sing on Talking Pictures a few times recently which was, I believe, her break out stage show and then was turned into a film. She's very good in it. So different to Carry On roles.

Genuine showbiz legend. They don't make 'em like that anymore.

maggienolia · 11/12/2020 06:43

A sad loss.
The scene where she was drunk in the ice cream van with Pat was an absolute classic.

RIP Babs.

devildeepbluesea · 11/12/2020 06:45

So sad to read this, I'm a huge Carry On fan and she will always be associated with them in my mind.

Hope she can rest easy now

@PopsicleHustler

She reminded me of my nanny, who also passed last week sadly
I'm so sorry about your nanny. They always have special places in the hearts of the children they have cared for for any length of time.

Barbara Windsor was never a nanny but I remember seeing her in a nurse's uniform in a Carry On film and can imagine she would have been a fun nanny!

I had to smile at the fact her husband’s surname is Mitchell, and she played a Mitchell for all those years in Eastenders.

Glad she’s free of such a hideous illness though.
